Nadine Samonte is excited about her new online business.

The former StarStruck avenger loves to eat dried fish, particularly unsalted danggit. Her daughter Heather shares this love, too.

One day, Nadine's helper asked if she's interested to buy a batch of dried fish from her sister. Nadine agreed to try some and she fell in love at the first bite.

At that moment, she realized, "Why don't I sell this? Hehe."

"Pinapapak ko na lang siya, alam mo iyon?" the GMA-7 actress tells (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via Instagram direct message on September 14, 2020.

"Kasi bihira talaga iyong makakatikim ka ng masarap, 'tapos hindi maalat. So, I told our helper to tell her ate I wanted to try to sell these dried fishes.

"And doon nag-start."

Their supply of danggit, dilis, and other dried seafood goods comes fresh from Masbate, and Nadine acknowledges the hard work of the local fishermen.

She says, "Alam kong pinaghirapan hulihin ng mga fishermen at ibilad at alam ko matrabaho ito, and I think iyon iyong special about these dried fishes."

The mother of two is "proud" of her products because they are "sooooo good... Masustansya pa."

When Nadine announced her new business venture on her Instagram, she noticed some netizens had strong reactions about her post.

They were surprised to see her selling danggit, dilis, and other dried seafood goods.

"I think this online selling of dried fishes really caught people's attention because I'm a celebrity and why am I selling it, right?" Nadine remarks in her direct message to

"But for me, hindi ako nahihiya. I love what I'm doing and I want others to know na, if you feel like doing or selling something, go and do it with all your heart.

"Hindi ka dapat mahiya as long as tama naman. Wala dapat ikatakot."

At present, Nadine is determined to grow the business and help the communities and individuals who have been struggling during this pandemic.

The celebrity entrepreneur says, "One of my goals is also to help our fishermen na magkaroon din sila ng pag-asa sa situation na nangyayari sa mundo natin ngayon.

"I mean pag-asa na dumami iyong tumangkilik sa ginagawa nila.

"I wish also na sana madami din makapagsimula ng kahit maliit na negosyo man lang.

"In this situation right now, let's help each other and grow together. Kaya I'm planning to resell na din pag napag-aralan ko nang maigi and pag lumaki talaga ito. Hoping!"

Nadine also intends to advocate local goods and support local communities.

"Lagi nga nila sinsabi, 'Mahalin ang sariling atin.' We should be proud of what we have in this country."

So far, her danggit and dilis business has been receiving positive feedback.

"It's really overwhelming and I'm sooo happy kasi madami nagme-message sa akin na nabigyan ko daw sila ng hope."
