If there's one thing that Paolo Contis won't take sitting down, it's when the bashers target his daughter Summer. "Baby? Ano ang ginawa sa iyo?" he says.

If there's one thing that Paolo Contis won't take sitting down, it's when bashers target his daughter Summer.

Bata, baby? Alam mo, regardless kung totoo o hindi.

"Pero, nandoon na tayo? Ganoon na tayo ka-barbaric to actually say something to a baby?"

He says he can take the criticism, but to find fault with a baby?

Paulo is aghast, "Kapag sinabi mo bang pango, tatangos iyan? Feeling ko lang, medyo nawalan tayo ng pagiging tao because of it.

"I can understand, hate me.

Baby? Talaga ba?

"'Tapos, nakita mo ang post, maganda, maayos.

"'Tapos may isang, ano? Hanggang ngayon hindi ko naiintindihan iyon."

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Paolo reveals he has considered deleting his Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

He says, "Sa totoo lang, maraming beses kong inisip na tanggalin. Pero dahil sa trabaho natin, kailangan siya.

"Lalo na ngayong pandemya, it became a tool for us to earn, to work, nandiyan lahat iyan.

PATOLA BOY

In a vlog titled Ang Pangarap Kong Soc. App., which he released on September 25, 2020, Paolo shared many insights about social media.

But of all the things that have been said about how netizens use or abuse social media, what has come closest to his experience with bashing?

The experience Paolo is referring to was when he was criticized heavily after he retweeted a tweet by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

A known critic of President Rodrigo Duterte, the senator had tweeted, "Four Trillion ang budget mo, tapos hahanapan mo ako ng ambag? Batukan kaya kita."

Paolo, in support of the President, retweeted Trillanes's post and commented: "Isa pa tong bastos at walang silbi na to eh..."

The backlash gave the actor pause to rethink the pros and cons of social media.

He says, seemingly resigned, "Wala, e, ganun na talaga ang social media.

"We all demand change, but I think it should start with us.

"Naniniwala ako na more than the negative, marami pa ring positive ang Facebook.

He does, however, acknowledge that social media platforms can be addictive.

He doesn't consider himself addicted to social media that he would post every little thing that happens in his life.

Minsan, once a week or kapag natripan ko lang or kailangan sa work."

PAOLO'S SOCIAL MEDIA POLICE

His partner LJ Reyes may have been responsible for getting him on social media, but she is now also his social media police.

May temptation talaga."

But Paolo has come to the realization that he shouldn't take things too personally online.

He points out, "Kapag may sinabi ang tao na ayaw mo, malay ba niya na ayaw mo. So, bakit mo siya pepersonalin? I mean, we have to agree or disagree.

However, there are times when LJ can no longer intervene.

He then cites an instance when LJ confronted him about reacting vehemently to a post.

Paolo recounts telling her, "Sinagot ko, e," and LJ interrogating him, "'Bakit mo sinagot? Bakit mo ginawa iyon?'

"Ay sorry, delete ko ba?"

"'E, bakit mo idi-delete?'"

So does this mean that Paolo doesn't delete his social media posts?

"Hindi, nandoon na, e," he ends with a laugh.
