Aside from offering funny vlogs, YouTuber Viy Cortez is using her influence to push others into growing their own fortune.

Viy has been documenting her journey as an entrepreneur, and many of her subscribers have been inspired to follow her example.

On top of her business activities online, Viy is also an endorser for Ever Bilena.

PEP.ph interviewed Viy via Zoom on September 16, 2020.

INVESTMENTS

Her success story began when she decided to quit her corporate job to focus on vlogging in early 2016.

Before long, her followers on Instagram grew to 1.5 million. Her YouTube channel to date has 3.93 million followers.

Using her earnings and savings as a vlogger, Viy kick-started her own company.

At 24, she now has her own clothing, beauty, cosmetics, and personal care company called Viy Line.

In addition, Viy also has her own franchise of Tea Talk, a milk-tea shop, in San Pedro, Laguna. She has plans to open another one in Parañaque City.

She is driven by the need to make her savings work for her. "Mas gusto kong nakikita yung pera kong umiikot kesa nasa bangko lang siya," she said.

Although real-estate properties are generally good investments, Viy has opted to put her money into businesses first.

Explaining her move, she said, "Yung mga properties kasi, puwedeng saka na, ang uunahin mo talaga is business.

If there's one advice she can give others about being an entrepreneur, it's to start a business as early as possible.

As she put it, "Kasi habang bata ka, lagi kong sinasabi, mas okay na mag-start ng business, kasi kapag nagkamali ka, may chance ka pang bumangon.

"Unlike mag-start ka ng late, di ba? Alam mo yung bata ka, kaya mo kasing mag-back to zero nang mag-back to zero, habang bata ka."
