Miss Sorsogon withdraws from miss universe ph
Isabela is a COVID-19 survivor. She was tested positive on September 27, a month away from the Miss Universe Philippines competition.
The beauty queen underwent tests on October 11 and tested negative. Despite the result, Isabela decided to withdraw from the competition to fully recover from the virus.
She said in her announcement last October 15: "With a heavy heart, I believe now is not the right time to join the pageant. I still feel tired, and I don't think my body will allow me to participate in the activities of Miss Universe Philippines.
"I hope you understand this is something beyond my control. I've thought hard and cried for so many nights about this. I have the willpower, but my body is not cooperating.
"I'm praying for your utmost understanding."
Isabela was among the early standouts in the competition, thanks to the outgoing support of GMA-7 actress Heart Evangelista.
Heart is the wife of former senator and current Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero.
