Sunshine Cruz and Angelina Cruz echoed each other in speaking against exploitation of women.
The celebrity mom pointed out how social media have given sexual predators a platform to harrass women to which she and her three daughters have fallen victim.
At their digital launch as endorsers of a skin-care product, Sunshine said, "Madalas kasi sa social media, ang mga kababaihan ngayon, medyo nababastos tayo.
"So parang ayun ang isa sa challenges sa akin, parang especially for me. Mahirap for me na nakikita ko ang mga anak ko ay nababastos sa social media."
Sunshine remembered her dismay a year ago upon seeing photos of her daughters—Angelina, 18, Samantha, 15, at Chesca, 14—in their swimwear uploaded without their knowledge.
That was in July 2020.
Netizens posted the photos on Facebook reportedly with malice in mind, and left nasty comments.
sunshine's reminder to her daughters
Sunshine said she has constantly reminded her daughters to continue fighting for what is right and not be afraid to call out sexual abusers on social media.
She said, "That's is why ako, ang lagi ko namang sinasabi, ilaban niyo. Kung alam niyong nagkamali ang tao sa inyo, you have to give them a lesson.
"Huwag tayong magbingi-bingihan, huwag tayong maging tahimik."
She added, giving praise to women who can't be silenced, "Yung mga kababaihan na nag-iingay kapag nababastos sila, thumbs up ako sa kanila.
"As a woman, you have to fight for your rights and if you think na nababastos kayo, ilaban ninyo para magtanda at maging aral sa iba na ang kababaihan, hindi dapat binabastos.
"Lalo na ang mga nanay natin, meron tayong mga kapatid at magulang na babae.
"So sana magkaroon ng respeto ang kalalakihan lalo na sa social media."
Her daughter Angelina especially called attention to the loathful practice in social media of editing photos online to make women look like they're not wearing anything.
Angelina told the press, "A challenge that people around my age face would be we're underestimated po.
"They would think na we're weak because of our age, and because of us being female, they'd usually disrespect us without thinking that they'd get consequences.
"And I think there's a lot of women around my age who are easily get disrespected especially with what's going around right now.
"Their bikini pics are being edited into nudes, I feel like they think that they'd be able to get away with that when in fact, they shouldn't be able to get away with it."
Angelina concliuded with a declaration, "The people around my age should be strong and not be afraid to stand up for themselves."
Sunshine and Angelina met the press last February 4, 2021, Thursday.
