Dianne Medina affirmed her faith in the Almighty, saying life's adversities and hardships only serve as a reminder to her to get closer to God.

In her interview on PEP.ph's "Anong Chika Today?" live cast session on Calamansi app last Monday, March 29, 2021, the 34-year-old actress/host recalled how her life changed when she learned that her sick mother, Maria Josefa Medina, only had a 50-50 percent chance to live.

The PTV4 host said it happened when she was in high school, "My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 47.

"So nung time na yun talagang we were really devastated because the doctors from the U.S. told us that my mom has no chance to live, parang 50-50 na lang.

"So nung time na yun, I was just a normal Catholic girl na Catholic school din, na I'm going to mass because I'm obliged to.

"Parang hindi ko pa rin ganun kakilala si Lord. Pero nung nangyari yun sa mom ko, talagang lumapit kami sa Panginoon.

"Mas nanalig kami sa Kanya. Gumawa kami ng mga paraan para maging mas malapit sa Kanya."

Dianne felt that God really answered their prayers. Her mom lived for 10 more years, contrary to what their doctors said.

She recounted, "So nung time kay mommy na sinabi ng mga doctors na no chance to live, si mommy tumagal pa for 10 more years.

"So parang ang sabi ng doctor, no chance to live. Pero ang sabi ng Panginoon, 10 more years."

Since then, Dianne has been serving the Lord by helping others.

"So parang nung time na yun, sabi ko, 'Lord, thank you for extending my mom's life and I will be forever grateful, Lord, na I want to give back as my gratitude.'

"Kasi isipin mo, kung kinuha si mommy at a very young age, paano naman kami makakapag-aral and all, di ba?

"I mean, looking back, nung kinuha siya, parang made na kaming magkakapatid.

"Five kasi kami so parang nung namatay yung mom ko, kahit papaano tapos na mag-aral lahat, alam mo yun? May trabaho na, maayos na yung buhay.

"So parang sabi ko, 'Lord, I am forever grateful.' And never I questioned God nung kinuha na niya si mommy."

And now that she is married, she is grateful her husband Rodjun Cruz has been helping Dianne continue her mission.

The celebrity mom continued, "So parang sabi ko, 'Lord, forever ako magse-serve sa iyo,' so petition ko yun kaya lector-commentator ako sa church namin sa Our Lady of Annunciation Parish.

"Pero lumipat na ako ngayon kasi nga lumipat kami na ng bahay ni Rodjun. Nung kinasal ako, lumipat na rin ako ng parish.

"Yun naman talaga ang ginagawa namin ni Rodjun lalo na nung nagkaroon na kami ng anak."

"Yun din yung dream namin for Baby Joaquin, is to, you know, sana in time magustuhan din niya mag-serve sa church and all."

Her faith has also given Dianne a deeper purpose.

She said, "Because of what happened to my mom, nalaman ko what is my real purpose in life.

"My purpose is to serve our Lord Jesus Christ, and everything else is just secondary.

"My career, my showbiz career, my hosting career, lahat ito, everything else is just secondary.

"So si Lord talaga yung pinaka-main purpose natin. Why are we all alive is to spread His word, is to serve Him."
