Despite not being fond of buying designer bags, actress Beauty Gonzalez expressed her preference for investing in art pieces, particularly those created by her idols and pieces that resonate with her.

In fact, she recently acquired a piece by one of her idols, Kiko Escora, during Art Fair Philippines 2023.

"I got one kasi I’m a fan of him," Beauty told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the annual art fair's exclusive VIP preview in Makati City last February 16, 2023.

But what's the most expensive art piece in her personal collection so far?

With a laugh, she responded, "Well, that’s the thing you never tell. I don’t kiss and tell."

BEAUTY GONZALEZ ON ART

Although Beauty did not specify the painting or art piece she purchased at the art fair, the Kapuso leading lady revealed that she spotted it on display in the section curated by her husband, Norman Crisologo.

Beauty acknowledges her husband's influence on her art preferences, highlighting their shared aesthetic.

"Mostly magkapareho yung vibes naming dalawa but naging polish lang because, of course, he's an art curator."

Nevertheless, the actress disclosed that this was not always the case.

"Ang dami niyang na-bash na mga art pieces ko dati!" Beauty recalled with a laugh.

The Kapuso actress continued, "So, na-polish niya for me which is really good kasi now I really understand what I really like."

When it comes to art pieces, Beauty favors those that are unconventionally beautiful.

She explained, "I'm more adventurous and, as I said, I like something that will catch my attention, you know...

"Yung parang something that is different.

"Kasi if it’s too pretty, I get bored, e. Like, if it’s all flowers lang, parang, 'Ah, okay, I’ll get a wallpaper na lang, di ba? Wala nang efforts.

"So I like something that, you know, will catch my attention.

"And even the people who visit my house, [seeing their reaction to my collection], I'm like, 'Why? What’s happening? What do you see?'

"What's more important is not what I see, it’s what you see."

ART IN FASHION

Beauty tries to apply the same principle to her fashion choices as well.

The jacket that she wore at the event was decorated with embroidered artwork and patches by Liezl Navales, which were meticulously sewn together by her husband.

The Fake Life actress said, "This is made by an artist... her name is Liezl Navales... And then my husband... the patches, isa-isa niya nilagay.

"Ang ginawa niya, pinerdible niya all so siya may gawa neto, and we just got the patches from this artist. That’s the story."

Beauty reiterated that her fashion preferences do not include designer bags.

She'd rather buy museum bags or art bags for their practicality.

"I’m not into designer bags... I really like tote bags, I’m a fan of mga museum bags.

"Even here, yung mga [tote bags] sa Artwork, nakapila na ako doon. I’m gonna buy a lot of T-shirts and bags.

"I’m all cliché already with all those designer bags.

"Para sa akin, iba pa din yung may art, may effort, may pinag-iisipan.

"A bag should be put anywhere, I don’t want to protect it from dirt or anything, di ba? Parang hassle pa."
