Singer/actor Marlo Mortal is feeling blessed to be in the thick of juggling his showbiz career and finishing college.

At age 30, Star Magic talent Marlo Mortel is fulfilling his long-held dream of completing his studies.

Marlo made this big reveal about a new chapter in his life during a chat with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media on August 26, 2023.

The interview was held at the Kumu Diamond Gala in Shangri-La at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City.

Marlo told the press that he took the chance to return to school when Star Magic presented him with a scholarship opportunity.

"Kasi hindi ako nakatapos. Fourth year college na ako nung nag-stop ako.

"Tapos binigyan ako ng scholarship ng Star Magic. So pumili sila ng, I think, apat."

He is taking up Multimedia Arts at the Enderun Colleges in Taguig City, which is a surprise as Marlo had expressed interest in Marketing before.

He explained, "Ayun talaga yung in-offer, yung scholarship. Siguro dahil in line din dun sa show business."

Looking forward, Marlo has his eyes on becoming a director after finishing college degree, "Malay mo, in the future puwede!"

He also mentioned he's been reading books and handling his studies with a manageable work load.

"I think nga more than [four years yung course] e, kasi naka-underload kami," Marlo said.

Meanwhile, Marlo conveyed his appreciation to the people behind Kumu for the numerous opportunities and blessings that have come his way since he began live streaming with the app.

And he was proud to reveal he was able to buy a house for his family with his Kumu earnings, "Doon na kami ngayon nakatira."

He shared, "Hindi naman ako masasabing mayaman, pero nakakuha ko ng mga essentials para sa amin ng Tatay ko, like bahay.

"Mostly talaga doon, yung ipon doon [sa Kumu]."

He later added, "Pagka naman sinipagan mo lang... puwede, ang laki ng possibilities. Unlimited possibilities...

"Ang message ko ay more blessings pa, and, of course, more lives that will change in the future.

"Kasi madaming buhay na nagbabago sa app na to, kasama na yung sa akin so more blessings."

Marlo related he ventured into live streaming during the pandemic and had recently hit the three-year mark on the app.

Asked what he usually did on live streams, Marlo said, "Kumakanta ako lagi!"

Aside from engaging with his fans, Marlo highlighted what he enjoyed about the app—the chance to win fantastic prizes through various campaigns.

"Sa Kumu kasi, ang kakaibahan niya sa ibang mga apps, meron siyang campaigns.

"So bukod na nananalo ka ng dias, which is money, meron kang mga prizes. So ang dami kong napanalunan na prizes."

Reflecting on one of the most remarkable prizes he won from a Kumu campaign, Marlo excitedly recalled that he was able to attend a BTS concert in the U.S.

"Nung nanalo ko ng BTS campaign. So nakapunta ko ng States, all-expense paid para manood ng BTS."
