The debate between opting for a diploma or relying on "diskarte" has sparked significant discussion on social media over the past few years, fueled by the emergence of self-proclaimed self-made millionaires on TikTok.
While many still uphold the value of education, there is a growing number of people who question whether traditional studies alone assure success.
However, social-media sensation Deo Balbuena, also known as Diwata, believes that having a diploma is still essential for success, and many people support his viewpoint.
For the unfamiliar, Diwata made headlines in 2016 after getting into a scuffle and sustaining injuries while confronting two friends caught up in vices.

Several years later, he regained social-media attention by launching his own Pares eatery, which quickly went viral.
Many netizens praised him for his determination to improve his life.
Diwata shared his preference for a diploma when asked by the TikTok page Pag Sure Ba in a video uploaded on March 29, 2024.
