What to do this Holy Week?
1. Do your panata.
For Karylle's part, "...I go to Subic every Good Friday and I sing there at the Boardwalk.
"It's a free concert for everyone.
"Siyempre people are looking for something meaningful to do pag Holy Week, and that's something I've been doing for the past, I don't know, siguro mga 10 years na din!"
She adds, "Di ko na ma-stop kasi nga, panata na di ba.
"Yung panata, depende, e. Some people yung panata nila yung nagpapasan ng krus, it's different for everyone, I think.
"For me, it's this. It's my devotion, my way of saying thank you and serving the Lord."
She recalls how it started.
"At first...it was really small, we were at the Boardwalk, there's always, there's usually a full moon pag Holy Week.
"You're singing, we'd just have a guitarist follow us sa Stations of the Cross. That's how it began, and it grew bigger and bigger and more people are a part of it."
Julie Ann San Jose, she says, joined about "three years" ago.
How about her husband Yael?
"Well, he's also a part of it, he's been singing, and this year, we're attempting to write a song.
"Well, he is attempting to write a song. I will attempt but I'm not really sure if I can deliver by Friday."
Singing spiritual music isn't far from her roots.
Karylle resumes, "Ako kasi when I started singing, it was really for church choir sa Poveda Music Ministry, yun talaga roots ko sa music."
2. Explore doing randon things like glamping!
Carla Humphries shares, "This year I am open to anything and everything under the sun!
"I just got back, I was in France last year so I'm looking forward to doing something random in the Philippines."
Random in the Philippines sounds interesting. What does it cover?
"Well I have a couple of invites but I don't know what I'm gonna end up doing.
"I'm just like more open now to do just random things.
"So I have a friend, she's inviting me to do glamping, you know, glam camping in Baler.
"Then another friend who is asking to drive to Baguio and Sagada.
"And some other friends that wanna go to our ancestral house in Batangas."
She concludes, "Honestly, I would love to do the Baler because I have never done it. But honestly, I would love to do either.
"I am just happy to make the most out of being back and being with friends.
"Di ba, Holy Week nga it's cool to do a staycation because everyone is gone and there is no traffic.
"So honestly I just plan on having some good R & R and enjoying and being random whatever that might be."
Solenn Heussaff decided to change her plans for the week last minute and go to Balesin Island, a private island resort accessible by charter plane, with fiance Nico and three friends.
She says, "Chill lang. Well, last minute yung plan. It was really planned last minute kasi ayoko mag-plan in advance.
"Usually ayoko pumunta sa beach kasi ang daming tao din.
"Usually din kasi out of the country, dapat mag-Nepal ako with Erwan and Anne but it was too short, just four days.
"'Tapos biglang may isang room na libre dito. So sinabi namin, sige join namin kayo.
"Second time, for Heart's wedding, I didn't really see anything. I woke up early, ran, 'tapos I had to start doing make-up on the bridesmaids so I didn't see anything, I didn't swim, di ako pumasok sa dagat!"
Her intention this trip, she says, "I just wanna chill, I just wanna veg, I haven't vegged out under the sun for so long so I don't even want to have my phone with me."
4. Hide your phone even for just a day.
Solenn continues, "I just wanna, I'll probably post photos on the horse, on the beach. That's it.
"I won't really be keeping my phone with me. Muni muni lang sa horse!"
5. Go to Batangas or nearby towns.
Vice Governor Leviste—who has confessed, "We always go to PEP especially when there's an issue"— says he plans to spend Holy Thursday in Calatagan, Good Friday in Nasugbu, and then Black Saturday up to Easter Sunday in Anilao."
Meanwhile, John Estrada and his wife Priscella are planning to go to Anvaya Cove in Morong, Bataan.
Priscilla says, "Siya na lang, kasi siya gumagawa ng mga plano, I'm clueless!"
John continues, "We're just gonna go to Anvaya. For this year kami lang, me and my wife and our kid and her yaya...
"Then after, we'll invite my kids to our house in Cavite, ganoon lang."
6. "...just relax, destress, connect with God and be with family and loved ones."
That's from Tom Rodriguez.
Is Carla one of the people he'll be spending time with?
"We'll see, we'll see," the actor smiles.
7. Give up a vice.
A strong Catholic, Tom does have a penitensya every Lenten season.
"Ah, may ilan akong ginive up na vices, kunwari, video games na alam ko ang babaw sabihin, pero para sa akin napakahirap i-give up.
"And the rice, white rice, sana after Holy Week, nami-miss ko na!"
8. Stay at home.
Actress Rhian Ramos admits, "I haven't really decided.
"I got a bunch of late invites from friends, so either I'm choosing either between somewhere in Batangas, which is so near where I live in Alabang, or somewhere really far like Vigan. I'm not sure.
"Or I'll just stay home."
Which one is she leaning toward?
"Uhm, well because my longest plan was staying home and I don't.
"When it's something like a trip, I don't like randomly changing plans, e.
"So I might just stay home, but mababaduyan lang ako sa sarili ko nang konti."
