In celebration of Women's Month this March, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked some celebrities a similar question: What's the best thing about being a woman?
Here are their feel-good answers.
Kathryn Bernardo: Power
There’s a strong sense of spirit when you hear the word “woman.”
Kathryn hails the mothers as the most powerful kind of woman.
“Nandiyan parang feeling ko, isa sila sa mga powerful na tao and something na puwede mo i-idolize.”
Heart Evangelista: Life
The best thing about being a woman is living the life of a woman.
Heart enumerates every aspect of a woman as the best thing about it, “How you embrace it, your growth, dressing up, being a mom, being a friend.”
Lauren Young: Confidence
A woman’s world is now filled with different kinds of opportunities, thanks to the efforts and sacrifices made by the women in history.
“I’m so happy to be surrounded by such carefree and independent women,” Lauren tells PEP.
“When we dress up to go out, they’re like, ‘Should I wear this? Baka they might think…’
"I’m like, ‘No, girl, if you don’t wanna wear a bra and babakat yung chenes mo, who cares? They’re natural!’
“I mean, I don’t judge a guy when I see his nipples are bakat, so why should men judge me for showing what I have?
“It’s not like I’m rubbing it in their face.”
The argument isn’t about gender differences, but how men and women share the same opportunities, capabilities, and most importantly, rights.
Women are also built to be multifaceted people.
“We’re smart, we have so much to show for, we’re talented, and, at the same time, we’re patient and caring and giving.
“You can have this whole business side and have this whole motherly side at the same time, and people think it doesn’t go along, but it fits perfectly.”
Shamcey Supsup: Competent
For the beauty queen, gender doesn’t limit the options of a woman anymore.
“You can be an architect, can be an engineer, can be a doctor—anything!”
Joey Mead King: Inspirational
It has been said that empowered women empower women.
We are at an era where we push other women to be the best versions of themselves and not step over one another’s dreams.
Being a woman is no longer about competition, but about encouragement.
Model/host Joey Mead echoes, “Our voice has so much value. We are such inspirational beings.
"Women can do anything they put their minds on, especially at this time and age, the roar is so loud.
"And that's the best thing about being woman, being a part of that roar.”
Cory Quirino: Boundless
Today, women are at their prime no matter what age.
“You can do many things at the same time. You can be all of what you want to be, whoever you want to be at any point, any time of your life.
“You can be who you are today.”
