A pair of old sneakers just made auction history.
The owner of these kicks: basketball legend Michael Jordan, whose ratty shoes were sold at record-breaking prices.
Ironically enough, Jordan's shoes from the iconic "Flu Game" of the 1995 NBA finals held the old record. Those were sold for $104,765 (or roughly PHP5.2 million).
"The record-shattering price prove that Michael Jordan has no equal in the marketplace for game-used basketball memorabilia," SCP Auction Vice President Dan Imler told ESPN in an interview.
The sneakers, which include his orthotic inserts and signature, are the last pair that he put on before starting his NBA journey with the Chicago Bulls.
He later signed a contract with Nike and became the face of the Air Jordans.
