The man whom Jake Zyrus approached to have his breasts removed was Dr. Manny Calayan.

In an exclusive interview via e-mail yesterday, July 19, the cosmetic surgeon revealed what happened before Jake's mastectomy, which, according to his manager Carl Cabral, was part of his talent's "big change plan."

What was Dr. Calayan's reaction?

It’s her will and kung saan siya masaya e masaya na din ako.

"I’m not against sa LGBT, siyempre."

The first step was breast examination.

"In-examine ko muna ang boobs niya kung puwedeng tanggalin, and after the examination, sabi ko puwede naman, ayun natuwa naman siya!"

Jake also had to go through mammogram, which is used to check for breast cancer in women, and ultrasound.

Dr. Calayan continued, "Ayun, after ng consultation, in-arrange namin ang schedule niya kasi may mga iba pa siyang doktor para sa hormones niya, for voice changes."

The outpatient surgical procedure lasted for "two hours."

Downtime, according to the doctor, was "one week."

To those who have plans of undergoing the same procedure, Dr. Manny advised, "They should undergo psychological evaluation din muna before anything else, and dapat ay reading-ready na sila."

He underlined the importance of being "psychologically prepared."

Dr. Manny added, "And talagang gusto nila na mag-transform."
