Mariel de Leon is not brand conscious.
When it comes to fashion, the daughter of Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andalong prefers the "simple, comfortable" looks.
She told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during a short chat at the recently-held Bench Fashion Week, "Just simple, comfortable. Nothing too flashy."
Mariel actually goes for the "cheaper options" when shopping.
"I actually like getting the cheaper options or kahit… any department store lang is good for me."
The most expensive she has bought herself so far?
"In terms of clothing, in terms of fashion, shoes I guess…Charles and Keith shoes," which retails from PHP1,200 to PHP5,900.
MISS INTERNATIONAL PREPARATIONS. In two months—November 17, to be exact—the Miss International 2017 will take place at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.
What has she been doing to prepare for the pageant?
"Now, I'm just super chill about it because, of course I'm preparing and working hard for it, but whatever happens, happens.
"That's the way I am talaga.
"I'll give it my best and accept whatever outcome."
Mariel will be advocating the value of the arts and culture. Given her background as an opera singer, she hopes to "bring more light" into the art of classical music and opera.
She is set to Tokyo, Japan, in mid-October.
