Most people probably think that being a celebrity is all about the glitz and glam.
But there really is a lot more to it—irregular schedule, extended working hours, and even little to no time for rest or even eat.
Celebrities also deal with a lot of people on a regular basis, which can be stressful at times.
Gretchen Ho's typical day at work is no different.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with the former volleyball athlete-turned-TV personality after hosting the launch of Berocca's #BigDays campaign last Friday, September 22, at Eastwood Mall in Quezon City.
In her interview, Gretchen narrated how hectic her schedule is on a normal day.
The 27-year-old Kapamilya host said her work would start as early as two o'clock in the morning.
She related, "I start really early, like what I was saying a while ago, I was picked up [today] by the ABS-CBN van around two a.m., and then we went to Lumban, Laguna. Dumating kami dun ng mga four thirty a.m., and mga three hours yung biyahe.
"Matatapos yung [Umagang Kay Ganda] ng eight a.m., 'tapos bibiyahe kami ulit, so more than three hours na."
The host further narrated, “Makakauwi ako mga eleven thirty a.m. na. After that, sandali lang ako makakapagpahinga 'tapos go na naman ako sa ibang trabaho like TV Patrol or other events like this."
Gretchen admitted that she initially found it difficult to adjust to her demanding schedule, so much so that she rarely had time to pursue the things she was normally into before she became a TV host.
For instance, Gretchen cited: "May mga days na hindi ako nakakapag-workout lalo na nung nag-a-adjust ako sa schedule ko with UKG. May mga araw na sobra akong puyat na feeling ko, hindi magiging maganda yung workout ko kaya hindi na lang ako nagwo-workout so binabawi ko na lang."
Gretchen added, "Madalas pa akong kumain sa UKG, and parang may period na na-stress ako kung paano ko aayusin yung sked ko. Pero ngayon, nakapag-adjust na ako, alam ko na kung paano bumawi ng tulog."
Having good time management skills is definitely a prerequisite for aspiring celebrities. It also pays to know your limits, said Gretchen.
The Kapamilya celebrity explained, "I think for time management, it's just important to... first of all, you need a planner or a schedule where you jot all your obligations, your responsibilities.
"You have to allot space in between those projects kasi kailangan mo ng pahinga.
"Dun ko na-realize na napakahalaga ng rest, na hindi ka puwedeng go lang nang go kasi na-aaffect yung quality ng work mo.
"If hindi ka nakatulog or hindi ka nakakain or hindi tama yung tinake mo na vitamins, hindi ka makakapag-isip, e.
“So ayun, yung tip ko dapat sakto lang yung pace mo. Hindi masyadong babad."
