Without a doubt, Andre Yllana inherited his dad Jomari Yllana's love for cars and speed.
Last weekend, he joined his first race, the National Drag Racing Championship, in Clark International Speedway, Pampanga.
Our of 83 racers, the Star Magic talent won third place.
Among the first to congratulate Andre was his mom Aiko Melendez, who posted a picture of her with Marthena, her daughter with ex-husband Martin Jickain, and Andre, who was holding his trophy.
Her caption read: “Congratulations son! First race and you finished 3rd already out of 83 competitors!
"I am so proud of how far you’ve reached today!
"Remember that your sister and I will never get tired supporting and be watching you till you finish top! We are behind you all the way!!!! @clarkinternationalspeedway."
Meanwhile, Jomari was not shown in any of Aiko's four posts.
Her meaningful caption was: “…With us Andre you are complete # nationaldragracingchampionship.”
ANDRE'S CAR. Jomari started racing in 2000 for Tom Sports International Corp, the racing arm of Toyota.
For a time, he served as the team's president before he formed his own company, Yllana Racing Company.
In 2001, he joined Philippine National Touring Car Championship Series, which he was not able to complete because his father died. He was second place.
The car that Andre drove was his dad's prized 90's AE111 Toyota Corolla. It was given to him on October 12, 2017.
Aiko thanked Street Tuners' Sat Barretto, who, according to Aiko was "isa sa susi kung bakit ang ganda ng takbo ni @andreyllanaa at ng kotse niya!"
She added, "Salamat ng madami! Napakahusay ng pagkaka-assemble ng engine ng Toyota!"
Again, she did not mention Jomari's name.
