With 2.6 million followers, Gabbi Garcia is now the most followed actress on Instagram under GMA Artist Center, the talent management arm of the Kapuso network.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the 19-year-old Kapuso star admits to feeling overwhelmed at the thought of having millions of people following her social media accounts.
More than anything, Gabbi feels more responsible on what she should share on her posts.
She relates, "I feel like it's a responsibility. It's not just something that I could just brag about.
"It's more of a responsibility that 2.6 million people are following you, and there must be a reason why they're following you.
"So there's really a big weight on my shoulders na I should be really extra responsible on what to post.
"Not only adults follow me, there are also children, teenagers, di ba? I feel like I'm responsible for it."
Her clout on social media has also made her among the top choices of brands to represent their products.
In fact, Gabbi was launched as the newest endorser of Sony Extra Bass last October 11, at Ascott Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The Pamilya Roces star remarked, "Very happy, very blessed, very grateful sa GMA, sa network because they trust me so much.
"And all the brands trust me so much. I just feel so blessed and overwhelmed and I hope na with my influence, I can represent them well."
RESPONSIBLE SOCIAL MEDIA USE
Gabbi hopes to inspire her followers to be more responsible in using social media.
She said, "Let's all be responsible kasi hindi natin alam yung effect sa mga tao when it comes to our posts."
The former Encantadia star further noted that people should focus on spreading positivity on social media rather than espousing negative vibes.
"People often say na, 'Social media is bad, it's toxic, and all.'
"But then it has a beauty in it, e. So I feel like we should focus on the beauty of social media which is to connect people and to reach out to everybody.
"So use your influence to speak about what you love, about what you're happy with."
When asked how she deals with hate massages or the bashing she receives from other social media users, Gabbi said she chooses to ignore these kinds of comments.
She advised, "Read whatever suits you, whatever fits you. Don't actually mind the negative ones.
"Use it for your advantage and not to pull you down or make you feel bad."
Though she's overparticular when it comes to curating her Instagram feed, she reminded other users to still be authentic.
The actress-singer told PEP.ph, "Just be real and post whatever makes you feel good and makes you feel like a real person.
"Kasi di ba, a lot of us have filters on social media. I suggest that you guys post something that you're comfortable with and something that makes you happy."
