Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico will be spending their third Christmas as husband and wife on opposite sides of the world.
Since Solenn is busy with her new GMA-7 teleserye Cain at Abel, the actress will be left behind in Manila while Nico will be flying off to Argentina to be with his family.
Apart from that, Solenn revealed, "I'm not really into Christmas. For me, it's the most hectic month of the year...it’s just more traffic, more everything, so I'd rather not have Christmas.
"Right now, we don't have a kid, so it doesn’t really matter whether we’re together or not for Christmas because we’re together for the entire year…"
Nico added, "As a couple, we spent New Year's together. [But for] The last two years, no."
SOLENN AND NICO ARE HOME BUDDIES
When Solenn and Nico are together in Manila, fans often see them working together as co-endorsers.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) met them during their latest endorsement event, the launch of Chevrolet Colorado Storm, last October 25, in Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
But Solenn and Nico acknowledged that their work commitments often separate them.
So, when their schedules finally line up, what do they do together?
"Well, we exercise together. We’ll do the same workout at the same hour, but we probably won’t be side-by-side because he’s a little bit faster and a little bit stronger," Solenn began.
"But things we really like doing together, I think we really are like home buddies.
"I'm not saying we don’t like to socialize, but we'd rather be home because we're always on-the-go and our schedules are always so hectic.
"When we do have that amount of free time, we just like to be home with our pets.
"I know it sounds so cliché, but we really enjoy it. They're like our babies."
Solenn and Nico have four pets: two turtles, a cat, and a dog.
Nico said he values quality time with his wife.
He threw in, "We do a lot of dates. We make sure to keep dating. We watch a lot of TV together. We plan the movies that we’re going to watch.
"Since we're not together that much, we do different things at the same time. When we are together, we really enjoy the time. We value it."
Is there something they want to do more often together?
Solenn immediately told Nico, "I’d like to travel more."
Nico replied, "We have."
Solenn said, "This year? Twice, but all for weddings. We didn’t get to spend just the two of us."
Solenn and Nico both agreed that their differences are part of their strengths.
Nico remarked, "I think it's even better that you like different things. It's boring if you're like two lawyers doing the same thing or too alike…I think because you learn from each other so much.
"Like, I have no talent when it comes to art, painting, singing—I'm terrible, but she's pretty good at everything.
"You learn from each other."
Solenn advised, "For me, respect each other's time, respect each other's interests.
"Also, it's very important to learn about what [your partner] likes. Support it. You don't have to do it.
"Like, if [Nico's] into football, I don't need to be into football. But I learned some of the techniques, some of the terms, so when he's watching I can ask him questions about it.
"It's important to stay interested in each other, even if you don't like the things the other one is into."
Nico threw in, "Opposites attract. I would definitely hate to marry someone like me. I want someone who is completely different from me, who I can learn from and see things different.
"I learn from her so much all the time, and I try to improve on those things."
