Ramon Revilla Sr., 93, died on Friday, June 26, 2020.

His career as an actor spanned five decades and he had more than 70 movies under his belt.

As a senator, what was deemed as his legacy was Republic Act 9255, otherwise known as the "Revilla Law."

It states: "The illegitimate children may use the surname of their father if their affiliation has been expressly recognized by the father through the record of birth appearing in the civil register, or when an admission in a public document or private handwritten instrument is made by the father."

Don Ramon himself has illegitimate children. How many? The initial claim was at least 82 children.

In an interview with Jessica Soho in 2004, Don Ramon could not tell the exact number, but concurred with the 80-plus count.

He said, "Yun ho ang sabi nila na talagang totoo ho iyan, inaamin ko yun, meron ho ako siguro [80 plus na anak], something like that."

Don Ramon has seven children with his wife Azucena Mortel.

They are Marlon, Rowena, Jose Maria (Bong Revilla), Rebecca (Princess), Edwin (Strike), Andrea, and Dianne.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in 2008, Rowena clarified that she has only 44 other siblings.

She said, "I have a list, e... we're only 45. The oldest is...I'm not sure, baka magalit, e—50 plus, 50 plus; the youngest is four years old na or five."

Rowena said they won't believe any claim by others until there's proof.

"Sinasabi ko nga, ‘Daddy, kung may maghabol diyan, a! Kawawa naman kami diyan. Kawawa ka diyan.' 'Tapos tatawa lang yun.

"Sabi ko [sa mga nagke-claim], 'Kung kapatid kita, walang problema, just show [proof].'

"E, di naman siya lumalapit kay daddy. Birth certificate, wala daw kasi ganun-ganon.

"'Tapos nung lumapit siya sa daddy, sabi ni Daddy, ‘Hindi kita anak,' so yun."

Rowena revealed her dad had a way of knowing whether a child is his daughter or son.

"Kasi kay daddy, hawakan niya lang ang ulo, alam na niya kung anak niya. May ganun siya, e.

"Hawakan niya lang ang ulo, alam niya kung anak ka niya o hindi...Kung anak niya, di naman niya itatanggi, e."

In 2011, according to his son Bong Revilla's spokesperson Portia Ilagan, Ramon fathered 72 children with 16 different women.

Thirty-eight children are officially acknowledged and carry the Revilla patriarch's surname.

Ramon has nine kids with Genelyn Magsaysay, a member of the Magsaysay political clan.

The late actor Ramgen is their eldest. He was shot dead inside their Parañaque home in October 2011.

Ramgen's siblings, Ramon Joseph and Ramona, were named suspects in his murder.

In June 2019, RJ was acquitted, while Ramona's murder case was shelved, and she remains at large to this day.

advice to his kids

Ramon Sr.'s constant advice to his sons: "Huwag akong tularan."

In his interview with Soho, he said, "Sinasabi ko nga ngayon, medyo nahihirapan din ako gawa ng pinapangaral ko kay Bong, at saka sa iba kong anak na lalaki, na wag niyong tutularan si Daddy niyo.

"Sapagkat napakahirap pala yung maraming anak."

In a separate interview with PEP.ph, the former action star and former senator explained: "I should not be admired for this. It's wrong, very wrong.

"Although I don't regret anything that I had done in the past, I have learned my lessons from it. I now want to impart these lessons to the future generation.

"I want to set a good example, and I am doing this now with my children."
