Talking about her two daughters, Angelu de Leon was quite candid in the virtual PEP Live interview of June 9, 2020.

She said, "Bata pa lang sila, they both knew that they have different fathers.

"They both knew that I had them when I was really young."

Nicole, 21, is her child with 1990s action star Joko Diaz, while Louise, 18, is her child with businessman Jojo Manlongat.

Given the world she lived in—showbiz—she knew straightaway that it would be hard to hide a secret as large as this.

And what she didn't want happening was for her daughters to start hearing things from other people.

Angelu said, "Ang ano ko kasi noon is—ito talaga iyong nasa utak ko—kaysa marinig nila sa iba, especially when they were going to school.

"Siyempre, iyong mga yayas, iyong mga chismis. Public figure naman ako, so hindi maiiwasan.

"So sabi ko, kaysa marinig nila sa iba, sa akin na lang. Para when they grew up, even when they hear people talking about the fathers, dedma na sila kasi they know.

"Kumbaga, hindi sila na-bully, or they don't feel bullied, because of their situation kasi alam na nila.

"And I think that's what I'm grateful for. Hindi naging soap opera ang paglaki nila."

She is even more grateful that, although they have different fathers, Nicole and Louise are bonded.

The GMA-7 actress good-humoredly said, "They protect each other from me. Alam ko iyon kapag silang dalawa may secret o iyong isa may secret at alam nung isa, they protect each other na.

"It's either hindi nila sinasabi sa akin, or sasabihin nila sa akin, pero in defense of the other person, the other sister."

Angelu is now married to Wowie Rivera, with whom she has a son, Rafa.

Also part of their family is Renzo, Wowie's son from a previous relationship.

The celebrity mom's hope is that all of her children will be close and watch each other's back.

She told, "Lagi ko sinasabi sa kanilang dalawa, pati kay Rafa at kay Renzo na, you know, there will come a point in their lives na me and their dad will be gone.

"At kung mangyari iyon, all they have is the four of them, di ba? So dapat, magkakampi sila.

"Kahit na marami silang hindi napagkakaunawaan, dapat magkakampi sila.

"We can't have them forever, they can't have us forever.

"Kailangan lang iyong foundation talaga nila…foundation ng bawat pamilya is pagmamahal.

"Family is everything, di ba?"

Angelu got her big break in the 1995 youth-oriented show TGIS, which aired on GMA-7.

Angelu was part of its original cast. She starred alongside Red Sternberg, Raven Villenueva, Michael Flores, and Bobby Andrews.

Bobby was Angelu's on-screen partner on the show and their love team drew in more viewers.

The series' cast then grew in 1996 when they welcomed Onemig Bondoc, Rica Peralejo, and Ciara Sotto to the roster.

TGIS lasted until 1997, but the series got a spin-off on prime time via the program Growing Up.

Then in 1998, Angelu had to leave the series because of her pregnancy.
