Max Collins and Pancho Magno sum up their first month as parents to Skye Anakin in two words: "walang tulog."

The Kapuso actor says in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "Well, si Max ang mas puyat."

Max replies with a smile, "Siya rin."

And after Max breastfeeds their son, Pancho does the burping duty.

Unlike new parents who ask for help with the baby, Max and Pancho have someone who helps with the household chores so they can focus on their baby boy.

Max says:

“For the first month, kami lang po talaga. Kami, may yaya for ourselves, pero si baby, wala siyang yaya. As in, we tried to do everything for Skye, on our own."

But now, Max and Pancho are learning to ask for help with Baby Skye when they need it.

“May time ngayon na hindi na kaya, so, nagpapatulong din kami kasi, kailangan din namin ng break. Kasi minsan, nakakabaliw,” Max says with a laugh.

Pancho seconds, “Sobrang exhausted na rin, pagod.”

BECOMING PARENTS IN THE TIME OF COVID-19

Now that they have a lot of free time because of the COV ID-19 pandemic, first-time parents Max and Pancho are able to focus completely on Baby Skye.

“Big advantage para sa amin to be hands-on parents,” Max says.

Pancho agrees that it is a huge advantage to spend all their time with their newborn son.

However, he admits to experiencing bouts of boredom during the five-month quarantine.

He says, “Big advantage, but to be honest ha, sobrang nakaka-bore rin.

Who does Baby Skye resemble: Max or Pancho?

Max says, “Kamukha ni Pancho! As in, pagkalabas na pagkalabas, nakita ko.

So sabi namin, kaninong ilong kaya?

“'Tapos no’ng paglabas, sabi ko, 'Ay, kamukha mo!' As in, carbon copy ni Pancho.

"So, meron na siyang mini me.”

For his part, Pancho says, “Ganun naman yata talaga. Kapag girl naman, more on sa mommy.”

The first-time parents are happy that their baby is strong and healthy.

“Noong first check-up niya sa pedia, sinabi sa amin na congratulations, you have a very healthy baby boy,” Pancho says proudly.

How's Max's breastfeeding so far? Has she addressed Baby Skye's latching problem?

As in, very demanding siya sa gatas.

“Kaya siguro iyon ang naging problema ko. Minsan, nauubos. Buong araw siyang nagpi-feed, e.

"So, buong araw, buong gabi. Medyo challenging. Naging challenging para sa akin,” she says.

Baby Skye's birth weight was 3.3kg, but he is now much bigger and heavier.

Max affirms, “Malaki siya for one month."

While other moms are able to stick to a feeding schedule, Max is finding it difficult to do this.

She explains, “On demand siya. Every hour and minsan, sinubukan naming huwag ibigay.

As in, kaya nilang mamamatay para sa anak nila.

“Ang sakit no’n, e.”

He adds, “Noong una, gusto niya, siya iyong mag-alaga.

Nagawa niya iyon, no fear, no anesthesia. Kaya sabi ko, kailan tayo gagawa ulit?

“Hindi ko ine-expect sa kanya to be the best or one of the best.”

For her part, Max sees how Pancho is truly becoming a hands-on father.

She says, “Ever since naman, dream niya talagang maging tatay.

“Very O.C.

Max also affirms Pancho's observation that she never really thought about becoming a mother.

I’m more on work, work, work lang ako. As in, iyon lang ang dream ko, do’n lang ako naka-focus ever since.

“So, malaki ang pinagbago ko after giving birth. Pero ang saya pala.

"Tama ang sinasabi ng mga moms, nakakapagod but it makes you complete.”
