Rebellion is indeed the hallmark of youth, as actress-turned-internet celebrity, Ellen Adarna, candidly attested to this.
In a new set of Instagram stories uploaded on September 1, 2023, Ellen was asked if she had ever tried using public transportation around Cebu.

Her answer revealed a significant chapter in her life that changed her perspective for the better.
She said (translated to Tagalog), "Yes dai, kasi may one time na nag-layas ako. Well, 13 years old, walang pera.
"So after a day, bumalik ako sa bahay.
"So ang punishment sa akin, pinag-jeep ako pauwi, pero sinundo ako ng yaya.
"On the way lang talaga yung schools ng mga kapatid ko sa akin, pero as a way of punishing me, pinag-jeep ako like three months," she recalled.
On top of commuting, Ellen was also subjected to months of immersion in the daily life of her nannies.
Recounting more from that time, she continued, "Pinatulog ako sa maids' quarters.
"Tapos on weekends, ako yung pinapaglaba, pinapatulong ako sa lahat ng household chores."
Laughing about it now, she remarked, "Ayan, layas pa!"

To answer the question on why she ran away from home, the Adarna scion confessed that it wasn't actually her original plan: "Actually, hindi talaga part sa plano maglayas.
"Tumakas lang talaga ako para mag night-out, to party party.
"Nag over-da-bakod ako, lumabas ako from the window," she hilariously reminisced.
"Sobrang amazed sila kung paano ko nagawa yon. Para daw akong si Spider-Man."
She clarified, "But di ko talaga plan lumayas that time.
"Umabot nalang sa layas because nahuli akong tumakas, so natakot akong umuwi kasi baka patayin ako ng papa ko.
"So, natawag nalang talaga siyang layas kasi di talaga ako umuwi."
LIFE-CHANGING PUNISHMENT
When asked what other "memorable punishments"can she remember from her dad, Ellen answered (translated to Tagalog), "Ang naaalala ko pinaluhod ako sa monggo, and then yun, pinag-jeep ako."
But while it sounds like tough parenting, Ellen pointed out that it did leave such a positive impact on her.

"Mabuti na rin yon kasi sobrang yabang ko dati, and then that humbled me," the celebrity mom declared.
"Because sobrang maldita ko din talaga sa mga yaya ko dati, isa din yon, kaya he [Ellen's dad] wanted me to live, to experience kung ano ang trabaho ng mga nannies."
She went on, "So ayun, naintindihan ko naman...
"And after that, naging mabait na ako sa mga nannies. Kasi siyempre three months din akong nakitira with them."
According to Ellen, another good thing that came out from the experience was the value of self-sufficiency.
"Tapos na-cut off din pala yung allowance ko," she shared.
"Sa sobrang pagka-rebellious ko, na-cut yung allowance ko. But, it also taught me to find ways to make money.
"So yung pagka-rebellious ko, may good thing naman na result. Di ako parang spoiled brat na naghihintay lang sa pera."
