Don’t expect new celebrity mom Kylie Padilla to give in to the societal pressure of gaining back her prenatal figure just yet.
Right now, the 24-year-old mother of Alas Joaquin is enjoying every bit and every detail of her role as a mother.
A few weeks ago, Kylie was not spared from the cruel online culture of body-shaming.
The former Encantadia actress didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but she did write her thoughts about the pressure to slim down in an Instagram post last September 22.
She acknowledged that, “Yes, I am fat. I am overweight.”
But that didn’t stop her from feeling much better about herself and her body.
Kylie wrote, “No label or opinion is going to stop me from being proud of myself that first I am now a mother and two, that finally I can choose to be happy no matter how imperfect people or culture says I am.
“Something that I could never do before.”
Apart from the extra weight, mothers also have to deal with stretch marks, but Kylie makes no fuss over such a beauty problem, too.
In PEP.ph’s (Philippine Entertainment Portal) one-on-one interview with Kylie last October 2, the daughter of Robin Padilla could only think of one reason she would be bothered by her stretchmarks.
“Siguro kapag na-bother na ito, hindi ko alam!” she said as she pointed at her fiancé Aljur Abrenica.
“Actually, hindi rin naman siya maarte.
“Siya naman yung kailangan i-please, e, di ba?
“So hangga’t hindi ako pinagsasabihan mag-lotion, okay lang ako kasi nangyayari talaga.”
Kylie added, “Gusto mo makita?”
She then gamely showed some of her stretch marks.
To her, these are reminders that she carried her son Alas Joaquin for nine months.
“Sabi ko [kay Aljur], gusto ko maalala yung pagbubuntis ko.
“Ayoko naman mawala lahat ng memories…
“Personally, hindi ako nabo-bother.”
In fact, a month before giving birth to Alas Joaquin, Kylie posted a photo of her baby bump complete with her “battle scars.”
Her Instagram followers lauded her for being proud of the changes in her body.
