Over the weekend, the world was treated to an exceedingly rare sight that has not been seen since World War II.
The 21-day lockdown in India resulted in a lack of air pollution that made it possible for the world to view the Himalayan mountaintops in its full glory.
The Himalayan Mountain Range is one of the world's longest mountain ranges, famous for having the world's tallest mountain peaks, including Mt. Everest.
Residents from Indian cities as far away as Punjab saw a bright white expanse over the horizon, only to realize it was the snow-capped tops of the Himalayas.
This is akin to seeing the mountains of Benguet from Manila, more than 230 kilometers away.
"For the first time after World War II, the Himalayan Ranges are visible from 230 kilometers away, due to less pollution in lockdown," said a Reddit user.
Photographers in India rushed to their rooftops to capture the moment.
Sadly, this is likely the first and last time people of this generation will view the great Himalayas from miles away with their naked eye.
Check out the following photos taken by various people from India.
