Boracay reopening to tourists from Western Visayas on June 16

Residents of Western Visayas can now visit Boracay! Just don't forget to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

Ihanda na ang mga swimsuit, mga taga-Western Visayas.

Simula June 16,2020, maari na kayong pumunta sa Boracay para sa inyong long-awaited swim.

Bahagi ng Western Visayas ang mga karatig-lalawigan sa isla: Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, at Negros Occidental.

Pormal na inanunsiyo ni Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu nitong Huwebes, June 11, sa briefing kasama si Tourism Secretary Bernadette Puyat.

Sabi ni Cimatu, ang kanilang rekomendasyon tungkol sa muling pagbubukas ng island ay inaprubahan na ng Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force, na siya ring namahala sa rehabilitation ng island last year.

"The task force approved the recommendation of the LGU [local government unit] for the opening of Boracay for tourism effective June 16 this year. That will only be applicable for tourists coming from the Western Visayas."

Ang Boracay ay parte ng Malay, Aklan na sumailalim na sa modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), mula general community quarantine (GCQ), noong June 1.

Noong araw ring iyon, pinayagan na ni Aklan Mayor Frolibar Bautista ang mga residente ng Boracay na mag-swimming sa walong designated swimming areas within the front beach at sa secluded na Puka Beach.

One hundred swimmers lamang ang papayagan sa bawat swimming area, mula 6 a.m. hanggang 6 p.m. araw-araw.

Nilagyan rin nila ng red flags ang mga lugar na hindi puwedeng languyan ng mga tao.

Sa press briefing nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Puyat na dapat pa ring sumunod ang mga turista sa health protocols ng MGCQ, tulad ng pagsusuot ng face mask at pagsunod sa tamang social distancing.

Sa kanyang online press briefing noong Miyerkules, June 10, sinabi niyang COVID-free na ang Boracay.

"What is important now is that when a tourist goes to a place, the health protocol is there.

"It’s safe for the domestic tourists to go to that place, since COVID is not there.

"And eventually, we can open it to foreign tourists," sabi ng Tourism Secretary.

Isinara ng Aklan government ang Boracay sa mga turista nang sumailalim ito sa GCQ noong March 19, ECQ noong March 23, at muli sa GCQ mula May 1 hanggang June 1, 2020.
