The pandemic has made it challenging for people to plan their vacations.
It doesn't help that each local government unit (LGU) of the country enforces ever-changing quarantine protocols and varying travel guidelines.
To address this problem, the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) launched a travel app and website called Travel Oriental Mindoro in the hopes of boosting its local tourism industry.
Oriental Mindoro is known for its budget-friendly, pristine, and amazing beaches. The town of Puerto Galera is particularly a crowd puller during summer because of its white-sand beaches and exquisite dive sites.

In a statement sent to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), PGOM teamed up with the Department of Tourism's Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) for this project in its effort "to rejuvenate and breathe new life into the severely affected tourism industry of the province."
Powered by ITDC Systems Development Services, the Travel Oriental Mindoro app and website make it easier for local tourists to plan their travels to the province. It has up-to-date information on accommodations, tourists spots, and even upcoming festivals.
Lists of available restaurants and souvenir shops are also available on the app and website.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Currently, the province of Oriental Mindoro requires tourists from NCR Plus or areas under any community quarantine stricter than the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) to submit a negative RT-PCR or Antigen test result taken within 24 hours before their scheduled travel.
For tourists under MGQC, a travel coordination pass from the destination is needed.
LGUs in Oriental Mindoro might also require a confirmed booking from an accredited hotel or resort and an S-Pass.ph registration.
For those who have additional questions regarding travel guidelines to each municipality or city in the province, the app and website also has the contact details of their tourism agencies.
Tourists can now access the website by clicking here and download the Travel Oriental Mindoro app for free through the App Store or Google Play.
