GMA-7 actress Bea Alonzo is back from her short-but-sweet trip to Madrid, Spain.
The Kapuso actress excitedly shared her experience in the European country in an exclusive email interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ahead of Lazada's 10th Anniversary Sale last Sunday, March 27, 2022.
When asked about the real reason behind her Madrid trip, Bea remained tight-lipped but promised she would soon let her fans know about it.
The Start-Up actress said of her trip, "It was great! But I can’t disclose yet what that trip was for. It’s something personal, I might share it soon!"
Bea was accompanied by two of her closest friends, namely Sheildeen Reyes Apostol and Star Magic handler Nina Ferrer.
But the Kapuso actress admitted that she did miss her boyfriend Dominic Roque, since it was her first time traveling abroad amid the pandemic without him.
Bea told PEP.ph, "Of course, I missed him the entire trip. But thanks to technology, I still got to video call him while I was away, which made me miss him less. I hope he could join us next time."
Her week-long stay in Madrid was filled with food trips, which Bea enjoyed the most.
She shared some of the restaurants she and her friends were able to visit and said, "We ate at Botin, they served the best Conchinillo, and they’ve been doing so since 1725.
"We also went to a lot of different Tapas bars and when we craved Asian food, we ate at two restaurants that have Michelin stars.
"One is a Chinese restaurant called CHINA CROWN (the best Peking duck!) and the other one is KRACHAI, a Thai restaurant."
For Bea, "Madrid and Barcelona" are must-sees for those visiting Spain for the first time. She also suggested, "You can do day trips, too! From Madrid, you can go to Segovia, Avila, Toledo, Valencia, Alicante, etc."
PREPARATIONS FOR MADRID
Upon her return to Manila, Bea started posting the photos taken by Sweet Escape during her Madrid escapade.
The Kapuso actress revealed that she planned all of her OOTDs for her trip, but she did not expect that she would face an unpredictable weather.
"There were some clothes that I brought but never got to wear. It was gloomy and raining the whole time we were there.
"And there was also a dust storm that came from Sahara that covered Madrid when we were there. The weather was crazy! Good thing I brought some coats."
Aside from planning her OOTDs, Bea also went online shopping to buy some travel essentials for her trip.
"I bought organizers from Lazada so I could pack my clothes and shoes properly, as well as a toiletry bag and a bag for my hair tools!
"And I also got a universal adaptor. That’s the most sulit one!"
The actress, however, reminded everyone not to go overboard with online shopping.
Her email read (published as is), "I think it’s okay to enjoy the fruits of your labor once in a while. Splurge. Eat a good meal. Treat yourself to a little shopping. Check out that cart! Life is short! Enjoy it!
"But you also have to be responsible and make sure that you are saving up for the rainy days and also investing in your future. I guess the key is, NEVER LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEANS."
Bea hopes to return to Madrid the soonest, but she also has another country she would like to visit for a short vacation.
"I am planning to go back to Madrid again the minute I get the chance to. But I’d like to visit Singapore for a quick getaway."
For now, Bea is putting her travel plans on hold because she will be working on GMA-7's upcoming remake of the hit K-Drama series Start-Up.
Bea told PEP.ph, "Since we’re already set to tape for our show in GMA, maybe I can do all of my travels after the show. Work comes first."
