Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna capped their whirlwind romance with a dreamy sunset wedding in Bagac, Bataan on November 11, 2021.
The couple is now looking forward to celebrating their first anniversary as husband and wife.
It couldn’t have come at a better time than now for Ellen and Derek, who have both slowed down from their showbiz careers to spend more time together and with their respective families.
In a recent chat with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the birthday party of actress-dancer Samantha Lopez at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, Derek generously shared details on how they would mark the special occasion.
The overseas trip was Ellen’s special gift to Derek.
An excited Derek said, “We’re leaving on November 4. We’re flying to Peru and Bolivia.
“One day she said, ‘Derek, block off November 4 to 20’ and I was, ‘What? But why?’
“She said, ‘I’m taking you somewhere. That’s my gift to you.’
"I was like, ‘Where, where are you taking me? How will I prepare? Is the weather hot, cold?’ and she said, ‘A surprise is a surprise.’"
Ellen’s original plan to keep the trip a secret, at least for a few weeks, didn’t pan out, however.
“Pero hirap ako i-surprise, e. So finally hindi rin niya na-ano, sinabi niya rin sa akin kasi nas-i-stress na rin siya,” smiled Derek in recollection.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL WONDER
Derek has always counted Peru as his dream destination.
Part of his agenda why he's been wanting to visit the country is to see firsthand the historic and popular tourist spot Machu Picchu.
Located in the rocky Andes Mountains in Peru’s southern part, Machu Picchu was built around the 15th century by the Incan Empire.
It was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and is among the world’s most famous archaeological sites.
Beamed Derek, “I just gave her [Ellen] a hug. That’s my dream. I’ve been wanting to go there and now I get to go there with my wife, that’s even better.
“Sayang di namin madadala si Elias. Pero nadala naman namin si Elias nung honeymoon namin sa Africa.
"So, this is a good time for me and Ellen to spend time together.”
Elias is Ellen’s son with actor and ex-flame John Lloyd Cruz.
DADDY DEREK?
Peru and Bolivia are not the only countries on Ellen and Derek’s itinerary.
Derek informed, “For the New Year, the Ramsays and the Adarnas will fly to Europe.
“We’re going to Sweden and Finland, and then Ellen and I and Elias are going our own way to Dubrovnik [in Croatia].
"We’re going to end this year on a high note. We’re gonna be doing a lot of traveling.”
Dubrovnik is known for its stunning medieval architecture, picturesque landscapes, and rich history dating back to the 7th century.
It also served as the location for King's Landing, the fictional city in the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones.
Traveling aside, Ellen and Derek are planning something bigger, maybe a baby soon?
“Yes, it’s all in the plans,” Derek affirmed.
“I’m a Dragon, Ellen is a Dragon. So she said, ‘Derek, can we do it next year, June?’
“Para sa 2024 siya manganganak and Dragon din iyong baby. So, that’s the plan.”
Ellen prefers to have a girl this time, according to Derek.
As for Derek, he said in jest, "Baka makulong ako pag nagka-girl, masyado akong protective, sobra."
