Dayanara returns to promote medical tourism

Former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres will return to the Philippines in November to endorse a local surgical center positioned to promote medical tourism in the country.

Beverly Hills 6750, owned and managed by long-time couple David Bunevacz and Jessica Rodriguez, has tapped Dayanara to become its celebrity endorser.

Dayanara will be on marketing campaigns planned world wide to attract Beverly Hills 6750’s prospective clients from different countries, particularly from the Asia-Pacific region.

“We aim to tap a very big market here in Asia,” Jessica told PEP. “Most of those who seek such services would still travel far away. They will realize that the best is found just around the corner.”

The clinic is located at 6750 Ayala Avenue in Makati City and affiliated with the Beverly Hills Institute, a leading southern California-based medical center specializing in plastic surgery.

Dayanara will arrive on November 10 for press events that would help promote the clinic to its target market. She will be giving media interviews and meet with Philippine tourism officials on how the government could help in the surgical center’s global campaign.

“I think our doctors are at par with the best in the world in providing plastic surgery and dental services,” David stressed. “We aim to have more foreigners to visit the country and consider the Philippines as the place for world-class cosmetic dentistry, aesthetic plastic surgery and other medical services.”

Among the medical specialists working for Beverly Hills 6750 are well-known surgeons from Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center, and the Sto. Tomas University Hospital. The clinic’s medical director is surgeon Dr. Eduardo Santos.

“We have the most distinguished line-up of doctors in the areas of aesthetic plastic surgery, aesthetic dermatology, and cosmetic dentistry in the Philippines,” Dr. Santos said. “We also have the most advanced facilities that would allow our practitioners to give quality service to our foreign guests.”

Among those in Beverly Hills 6750’s list of specialists are chiefs of plastic surgery at St. Luke’s and Makati Med – Dr. Rene Valerio and Dr. Francisco Manalo.

Dayanara, a Puerto Rican model-actress, was the 1993 Ms Universe and first came to the Philippines in 1994 when the country hosted the international pageant. Since then, she became a regular figure in Philippine show biz – hosting television shows and acting in feature films until 1998. During the course of her show biz career in the Philippines, she had been romantically linked to actor Aga Muhlach, who is now married to Charlene Gonzalez, the Philippines bet in the 1994 Ms Universe pageant she co-hosted.

After leaving the country, Dayanara embarked on an acting career in her native Puerto Rico before marrying pop singer Mark Anthony, also a Puerto Rican and known for his salsa hits. After a four-year marriage, they divorced in 2004. Mark Anthony is now married to actress-singer Jennifer Lopez.
