Polo Ravales will be weaving magic once again as Euen in the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Super Noypi. Clad in an all-black costume, Polo even compares his role to Keanu Reeves' character in Constantine.
During an interview with YES! Online last November 6 at the Rockwell Tent, Polo describes his role as someone who uses "black magic pero good guy." He continues: "Sister ko si Sandara. Pareho kaming may magic. Isa ako sa mga bida. Yung magic ko [can do] anything." Polo is once again the protagonist in this movie after playing the villain in GMA-7's fantaseryes Encantadia and Majika.
According to him, his role now is more challenging in terms of acting. Despite all the special effects in the movie, acting is still very important. "Medyo nagma-magic ka dun. Mahirap. Kailangan papaniwalain mo yung tao na may magic ka. Sa [Encantadia], puro physical yung ginagawa ko. Kelangan mo ng acting. Halos pareho lang. Dito, more on facial expression. Ginawa kong parang maangas. Rocker kasi ako dito e. Meron akong angst sa buhay."
Super Noypi is about a group of teenage super heroes trying to stop the menace of Diego, played by Monsour Del Rosario. Polo Ravales will be joined by Mark Herras (Lorenzo), Jennylyn Mercado (Lia), John Pratts (Yñigo), Katrina Halili (Annys) and Sandara Park (Michie), who is Polo's younger sister in the movie. Unlike Euen who is a rocker full of angst in the movie, his sister Michie is a perky girl who loves pink. The contrast in their personalities often puts the two at odds with each other. In the movie, Polo inherits a book of magic, which he uses to start practicing his craft.
Polo Ravales first played the role of a magician in the recently concluded GMA-7 fantaserye Majika. MMFF entry Super Noypi is directed by Quark Henares and produced by Regal Entertainment.
