End of feuds mark the 11th year of 'Startalk'

Startalk, GMA-7's Saturday showbiz talk show, celebrated its eleventh year with an anniversary episode like no other. Several pairs of feuding stars agreed to bury the hatchet during the anniversary show was, incidentally, was scheduled on the eleventh day of November.

Pioneering Startalk host Lolit Solis became the woman of the hour as she ended her feud with controversial DJ Mo Twister.

Manay Lolit guested in DJ Mo's radio show Good Times at DWTM Magic 89.9 last November 9. In return, Mo Twister also appeared in the anniversary episode of Startalk in a taped interview. After Lolit gamely answered his forbidden questions, DJ Mo said: "Now, she's [Lolit] one of my favourite people in the industry. She's great. I mean that wholeheartedly, not because the camera's here."

Meanwhile, Manay Lolit's former ward, Rosanna Roces, vowed to bite her tongue when it comes to the Startalk host. Osang, as Rosanna is popularly called, promised: "Kahit may sabihin pa siya, wala na siyang maririnig sa akin."

Manay Lolit promised that the public would hear her side of the story in next week's episode. The feud between the two prompted Osang to leave the showbiz talk show two years ago. For her part, Osang was delighted to be in front of a Startalk camera once again. "Natutuwa ako," said the former Startalk host.

Also present during the anniversary special were Iwa Moto and Cristine Reyes. The latter supposedly complained of Iwa's tardiness while shooting for their movie Pitong Dalagita. The two stars clarified that they were not fighting over the trivial issue.

Another feud that ended that day was the one between Alfred Vargas and Polo Ravales. Their misunderstanding started when Alfred took Ashley Gruenberg, Polo's younger sister, on a date without asking for Polo's permission. To prove that there were no hard feelings between the two, Polo and Alfred shook hands and even went along when Joey de Leon's dared them to say "I love you" to each other. The two gamely obliged, saying: "I love you, pare" to each other.

Startalk had its initial telecast in 1995 with the trio of Lolit Solis, Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda. Kris and Boy had since then moved to ABS-CBN and are now co-hosts in The Buzz.
