All nine MMFFP 2006 entries to be shown on Christmas day

Balik sa original plan ang Metro Manila Film FestivalPhilippines (MMFFP) 2006 with all movies showing simultaneously ng Pasko, December 25.

It was on a happy note na binuksan ni Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando ang taunang film festival when he announced that all nine entries will open nang sabay-sabay sa December 25. Nagkaroon kasi ng balita na baka gawin ang dating tradition na may mauunang pelikulang ipapalabas ng December 25 and the rest sa January 1st.

Nagkaroon ng petition ang participating producers requesting the MMFFP 2006 committee not to do it again this year dahil it has been proven that the movies being shown ng Enero are not as strong as those na nauunang naipapalabas ng Disyembre kahit nakakakuha ito ng awards. Some examples of these are last year's Best Picture Blue Moon ng Regal Entertainment and Bridal Shower ng Seiko Films na itinanghal na Third Best Picture noong 2003.

With Virgin Films' Short Time backing out dahil hindi raw ito matatapos in time, MMDA Chairman Fernando and the MMFFP 2006 committee have decided na huwag na itong bigyan ng kapalit so all nine movies could be shown simultaneously.

The nine movies participating this year are the following: Shake, Rattle and Roll 8, Super Noypi, Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di (I Love You) and Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh—all from Regal Entertainment; Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo from Star Cinema; Tatlong Baraha from Violett Productions; Enteng Kabisote 3: The Legend Goes On And On And On and Matakot Ka Sa Karma both from Octo Arts/Canary Films; and Ligalig from CM Films.
