Metro Manila Filmfest Execom approves two-day extension

MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando and the MMFF Execom approve the request of film producers to extend the showing of all nine entries

"While weekends are often good box office days, this does not apply in the case of December 31 of this year, which falls on a Sunday.

"Traditionally, all of December 31 is spent preparing for the New Year's Eve festivities, hence box office receipts for this day are expected to be much lower than the average Sundays of the rest of the year.

"As movie producers, we have experienced the loss of a high weekend viewership if and when December 31 falls on a weekend.

"For this reason, we are appealing to your organization to extend the film festival exhibition up to January 7, 2007—a Sunday."

Lumagda sa letter of request sina Orly Ilacad ng Canary/OctoArts Films (producer of Matakot Ka Sa Karma and co-producer of Enteng Kabisote 3), Lily Monteverde ng Regal Entertainment (producer of ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh, Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di, Shake, Rattle & Roll 8, and Super Noypi), Malou Santos ng Star Cinema (producer of Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo), at Violeta Sevilla ng Violett Films (producer of Tatlong Baraha).

The other entry is Cesar Montano's Ligalig.
