Actress-singer-TV host Julia Clarete, now four months pregnant, was seen again in public promoting her indie movie Sa Ilalim ng Cogon.
During the fans day of her indie film last December 17, Julia explained to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that her heart and soul are still in showbiz even though she is no longer as visible on the scene.
"As I said before, as long as they want me around, I will be around," declares Julia. "Kaluluwa ko na yata ito e--[ang] pag-arte at pag-perform."
In this exclusive interview at Robinsons Galleria Movieworld, Julia says that she did not feel any tension when she returned to her hosting duties on Eat Bulaga.
She recalls: "Nung nagbalik-Eat Bulaga [ako], walang ilang. Actually, nahiya nga rin ako sa kanila [co-hosts] ng konti dahil during the peak of the controversy, parang sila yung pinupog ng tanong e.
"Since nakapagpaalam ako in personal [at in-explain ko na] buntis ako at may threat na mawala yung baby, I have to stop first at hindi pa ako makakabalik agad. Pero sana I hope you guys keep your doors open to me."
The 27-year old actress-TV host married her non-showbiz boyfriend Stephen Ryan Uy last October 22 in civil rites in San Juan, La Union. Because of the marriage and her delicate pregnancy, Julia says she would put her career on hold temporarily and focus on occasional appearances on Eat Bulaga!
Asked if she had any problems with the show because of her sudden decision, Julia points out that she was able to inform most of the people involved about her decision---including Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto, and Malou Choa-Fagar, senior vice-president of TAPE Inc. TAPE produces the GMA-7 noontime show Eat Bulaga!
The talented singer/actress adds, "Sa ibang superiors ko, like GMA-7 and sa Ivory [Records], hindi ako nakapagpaalam personally. It was my manager during that time—si Henry Hernandez."
Her former manager has expressed disappointment with the timing of Julia's marriage and pregnancy because these caused him to cancel, without due notice, many previous commitments he made for Julia.
Asked about her relationship with her former manager, Julia says, "As far as I know, we're supposed to be on good terms. Wala naman [conflict], pero hindi pa kami nagkikita."
To date, Julia has not signed up with any manager.
The young actress-singer-TV host is bent on making amends to the people she let down in the past.
"Ngayon I have to talk to them [my other superiors] pa. I have to talk to some people pa just to clear things out. They put their trust on me, tapos bigla akong nawala at nabuntis nga ako and I got married. [But] no, I'm not regretful naman e."
