Vic Sotto has never been this open about his lovelife. Since his separation from his wife Dina Bonnevie, the box-office king has been linked to many women but he has always kept his feelings about them from the press and the public.
This is not the case in his relationship with his Eat Bulaga! co-host Pia Guanio. Vic has not only been vocal about how he feels for the thirty-something Pia, he has also admitted to seriously considering settling down with her.
The comedian has already hinted that Pia may be the last woman in his life.
In a live interview in S-Files, where Pia is a co-host, Sunday, December 17, Vic talked openly about their love affair.
"Nagulat [sila and] at the same time hindi makapaniwala dahil they are so used to me na tahimik pagdating sa personal na buhay. This time, I'm very proud of the relationship, I'm very proud of her," said Vic.
"Wala namang dapat itago kasi e. Nagtataka nga ako noon e, dinedenay-dinedenay [daw]. Wala naman akong dinedenay, wala lang nagtatanong. Nung nag-presscon ako [for Enteng Kabisote 3], may nagtanong, sumagot naman ako. Mabait naman akong tao e," he added.
When asked if Vic's children have a say on his relationship with Pia, the comedian replied, "Alam mo, kami ng mga anak ko, wala kaming pakialamanan e. Lalo na ‘yung malalaki na, ‘yung may lovelife na. Di ako nakikialam. I don't give unsolicited advice. ‘Pag kinailangan ‘yung advice ko, that's the time na magbibigay ako."
Vic's daughter Danica is engaged to basketball star Marc Pingris while his son Oyo is the boyfriend of A-list star Angel Locsin.
"More or less, ganun 'yung relasyon namin," the box-office comedian said. "Lovelife ko, labas sila dun. Basta nakikita nilang maligaya ako, masaya ako, e ayos na. Tulad ni Pia, walang problema sa mga anak ko ‘yan kasi vibes naman sila e."
Pia, who joined Vic in the second part of the interview, confirmed her boyfriend's statement.
"We're more or less good friends," she said, referring to Vic's children. "I just want to be a good friend to them. I just want to be able to help. I don't want to be putting labels into people, on relationships. Basta, I'm here for them no matter what happens. Cia [Ciara Sotto, Vic's niece and Eat Bulaga! co-host]---I've been friends with her ever since. I don't want that to be affected whatever happens. "
Aside from Danica and Oyoboy, Vic has a son with Coney Reyes, an actress and former TV host, and a daughter with Angela Luz, daughter of the painter and national artist Arturo Luz.
Bossing Vic also said that his friends are happy for him.
"Siyempre masaya sila sa akin. Kilala naman nila si Pia. Most of you know that Pia is a very likable person. Di siya mahirap magustuhan e. Madaling mapalapit ang loob mo," he said, smiling.
The couple also revealed that Vic has met Pia's parents. The couple have only nice words for his "future in-laws."
"‘Yung parents ni Pia, they're such cool people," Vic said. "Parang si Pia. Alam ko na kung saan nagmana ‘to e. [‘Yung] pagka-friendly, pagka-likable. ‘Yung magulang niya, madaling kausap. Very nice [people]."
When asked whether Pia's parents gave him advice, Vic joked, "Wala, sa kanya [Pia] maraming ibinigay."
Vic also made fun of his playboy tag. "Hindi totoo ‘yun. Image lang ‘yun. Kagagawan ng pareng Joey [de Leon] ko 'yan e. Actually, baligtad yun e. Pinapasa lang niya sa akin e," he said, laughing.
Vic also clarified the rumours that they have already set their wedding date for 2008.
"Saan naman nanggaling 'yang 2008? 'Di naman ganun kadali ‘yun although there are times that we talk about it," he said.
At the end of the interview, Bossing candidly gave his message to Pia: "Simple lang ang message ko: I love you."
Pia answered back, saying, "I love you too."
Vic stars in Enteng Kabisote 3, an official entry to the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival, where Pia has a cameo role.
