While people still call him "Billy Joe" in the Philippines, the rest of the Western world knows him as Billy Crawford. Yesterday, Billy received his own star at the Eastwood Walk of Fame.
"It's definitely a blessing," said the former child actor. "I never thought in a million years that we're gonna have a Walk of Fame in the Philippines. Sobrang talented ng mga tao dito, people that I grew up with and my inspirations... Actually like a lot of actors and actresses and singers, it's a pleasure to be in the same walk with them. I can't ask for a bigger blessing."
He added, "All the support from Papa Kuya Germs and the rest of the people who supported me, I don't think I can ask for more. I mean, this is sincerely speaking."
He is the first Walk of Fame inductee of the year.
"Billy made it already nang maging Best Child Actor noong nandito pa siya," explained German "Kuya Germs" Moreno, the main organizer and spirit behind Walk of Fame. "Noong mag-international siya, gumawa siya ng album, and then sa Europe naging number one siya. I think that's an achievement na. Puwede na nating masabi na ‘pag entablado or mga live shows kayang dalhin ni Billy."
The Filipino-American kid who once pranced around the That's Entertainment stage is now a verified, authentic European superstar! He slowly built his career in the U.S. as a singer-dancer after moving back there during his teenage years. Even though he has not penetrated the American market in a big way, the 24-year-old talent received major successes in Europe, especially in France.
