Cesar Montano announces his candidacy for the highest legislative body in the country, the Senate. He was chosen by Lakas-CMD (Christian-Muslim Democrats) to replace Governor Jericho Petilla, who chose to backout of the race. Cesar joins co-actors Richard Gomez and former Senator Tito Sotto as another senate-hopeful.

There are already three actors occupying seats in the senate—Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada, and Lito Lapid. The Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos and the Megastar Sharon Cuneta joins the campaigns from the sidelines. The two are campaigning for their husbands Senator Ralph Recto and Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

People's Champ Manny Pacquiao has also decided to run for congress as a representative of his hometown Gen. Santos City.

Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) Director-General Leo Martinez expresses his opinion on the growing number of actor-turned-politician.

In an interview with 24 Oras earlier this evening, Leo admits that he cannot urge his fellow actors not to meddle with politics.

He says, "Well, wala naman ako magagawa sa ganoon.

He emphasizes though that he is not saying that the voters should not vote for all actors in general.

"Kung executive posisyon like mayor or governor, you need a good manager.

He also says that his message is also applicable to boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.

"Oo naman, ganoon din. Ibig sabihin, ang ino-offer namin ‘yong popularidad, mostly," he ends.
