Melanie Marquez walks out of Penagbenga Festival

Beauty queen-turned-actress Melanie Marquez walked out in the middle of the parade during the Penagbenga Festival in Baguio because the organizers, according to her, did not stick to the agreement.

"There was a miscommunication regarding that matter, because this is between a gasoline company [Caltex] and Psalmstre, which I'm endorsing. Napag-usapang walang commercializing dito and Mr. Acosta [owner of Psalmstre Enterprises] agreed upon na lahat ng mga nag-sponsor in this event, they'll be behind us. 'Yon ang agreement," panimulang salaysay ni Melanie.

"Noong about to start na ang parade, pinaakyat kami doon sa isang karosa na hindi ang New Placenta ang nakalagay na mga poster kundi Caltex. Sabi ko, fine. We went up kahit I'm endorsing New Placenta, hoping na papalitan nila ang mga posters doon ng aking iniidorsong produkto later.

"It's very offending to me because I am here for the Placenta and it's really good for our relationship with the organization to be a part of the parade without any promotional ano sa sasakyan," sabi pa niya.

Then after two days, nabago ang usapan dahil dalawa na yung floats.

"I was wearing a gown and my two escorts were wearing T-shirts with the name of our company on it. Ipinapa-step down nila. Sabi ko, ‘No, or else I have to go down, kasi we are not there to endorse other product,'" kuwento pa ni.

"No... Well, it's all up to Mr. Acosta because he is the owner of New Placenta," sagot ni Melanie. "Nataon lang naman na may miscommunication between the two parties, and I wasn't there during the negotiation para mas klaro. And I don't have any intention to hurt anybody, instead we have this good intension to help promote the tourism of the city and the whole country as a whole."
