Former beauty titlist and actress Melanie Marquez will be busy once again as she tackles a comic role in Solar Entertainment and RPN-9's newest TV sitcom, Dalawang Tisoy (Thursdays, 8:30-9:30 p.m. starting March 15), starring Eddie Gutierrez and Freddie Webb.
In a chat with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Melanie cleared the issue that she walked out of the Penagbenga Parade in Baguio recently.
"I was to promote the product I am endorsing [New Placenta]. Pero dun sa float where I was to go up, sinabi nila sa akin na hindi na kailangang maglagay ng logo [of New Placenta]. It was clear sa napag-usapan namin na sa likod na lang ng float ilalagay ang names ng mga sponsors," she narrated.
She added, "But when I went there, nagulat na lang ako kasi, kung anu-ano nang mga pangalan ang nakalagay at nakapalibot sa float na sasakyan ko. E, ang alam ko lang, I was there to endorse Placenta. Sabi ko sa kausap ko [James Acosta, owner of Psalmstre Enterprises], sisingilin ko siya dahil kung anu-anong sponsors na hindi ko naman ini-endorse ang inilagay nila there. The invitation was from the [Department of] Tourism ng Baguio."
So did she stage a walkout?
"Yes!" Melanie answered. "Kasi, nung una, sumakay ako with two escorts. Sabi ko sa kanila, magsuot na lang sila ng T-shirts na may nakasulat na Placenta. E, hindi pumayag yung organizers. Kaya sabi ko, bababa na lang ako. Pero bago ako bumaba ng float, you know what I did? Kumuha ako ng mga tao dun at namigay na lang kami ng mga products namin. Namudmod na lang ako ng Placenta!"
KRIS. It will be remembered that Melanie was outspoken when it came to her brother Joey Marquez's failed relationship with Kris Aquino. Now that Kris is suffering from a new storm in her life, this time with James Yap, how does Melanie feel about it?
"Ang sakit naman nung nangyari kay Kris. Ang masasabi ko? Kakampi ako ni Kris. Ang mga kabit, hindi sila dapat gano'n!" she said.
If it happened to you, what will you do?
"Naku, e, di ipapa-cut off ko ang p___s niya!" replied Melanie. "At kung mangyayari sa akin ‘yon, there's no turning down [sic]. Finished na siya! Kung ako yun, sa akin ginawa, hihiwalayan ko na. Ako, I will pray na lang for Kris and her baby."
There are still articles sayings that she remains smitten with her son Miguelito's father, Senator Lito Lapid. True?
"Wala naman akong dapat na balikan,"she said. "I am happily married now with my Adam [Lawyer, her husband]. Baka naman may mga nagbibiro lang.
"And when it's about Lito and me, siguradong it has something to do with our son. Yun na lang ‘yon. Wala na akong dapat na habulin pa sa kanya. Bakit pa ako hahabol, di ba, Ineng? Hindi ako ang lumiligaw sa lalake. Ako ang nililigawan! Ako ang sugar mommy ni Lito noon, e. Ha-ha-ha! Joke!"
Will she admit that as far as the so-called "big birds" are concerned, she can be added to the list of those who are fond of these birds as well?
"Mahilig ako sa big brains. At sa magaling gumamit ng bird!" Then she lets out a hearty laugh, again.
In Dalawang Tisoy, Melanie portrays the role of Diana, an English teacher (yes!) by day and the bar manager of Happy and Gay Bar at night.
