Kris Aquino and husband James Yap arrived hand-in-hand at the Imperial Palace Suites last night, May 4, to support the senatorial bid of Kris's brother, Noynoy Aquino. The event, a press conference sponsored by Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde, was Kris's first public appearance since giving birth to baby James—the couple's firstborn—on April 19.
"Last big hurrah dahil hindi naman ako nakapunta anywhere for him [Noynoy]," said Kris about her attendance that evening. "So, happy ako at least nung nag-file ng candidacy and ‘yong launch niya with the Liberal party [I was there]. First and last big presscon ito [so] andiyan ako."
James seconded, "Siyempre, [for] support."
Kris added, "Pinakiusapan ko [si James] to join me now, also kasi sumama siya sa Mom [former President Cory Aquino] ko nung Tuesday sa Cebu at sa Iloilo. Sabi ko na pumunta kami dito to also show Mother Lily how much na na-appreciate namin ‘yong ginawa niya for Noy. And we're really really happy."
Noynoy expressed his deep gratitude for his youngest sister's presence.
He said, "Talaga naman, wala akong masasabi.
The rest of the Aquino clan were also present: Joshua (Kris's child with actor Phillip Salvador) and Noynoy's other sisters—Balsy, Pinky, and Viel.
