Three Solar Entertainment sitcoms get the boot

Three sitcoms of Solar Entertainment on RPN-9 are scheduled to get axed—Kemis: Ke Misis Umaasa, Sabi Ni Nanay, and Dalawang Tisoy (in photo, with Freddie Webb and Eddie Gutierrez).

Hindi raw ito kasing-sleek ng iba pang shows na either produced ng Solar Films like its flagship show, The Philippines' Next Top Model (PNTM), or the canned shows bought by the said company, tulad ng Heroes. That is the reason kung bakit mawawala ang mga nabanggit na comedy shows even before it finishes its first season of telecast.

Having said that, may kapalit naman ito. Edgier and definitely non-mainstream type of shows nag ipapalit para mapansin ang RPN-9 in its quest for becoming an alternative TV station after ABS-CBN and GMA-7.

May inaayos na ngang bagong show ang Solar for some of the contestants of PNTM na may tentative title na 1628 Girls. For approval na ang concept nito.

A cross between Sex in the City, Ugly Betty, and Grey's Anatomy, the new show will star three of the current contestants of PNTM and some of stars from the about-to-be-axed sitcoms. Magkakaroon din ng auditions for some of the choice roles, especially the male parts.

Mawawala na rin ang Showbiz Ka! ni Pat Daza-Planas after its first season.
