Isang Maricel Soriano movie at another installment of the horror franchise Shake, Rattle & Roll ang isinumite ng Regal Entertainment for the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Dalawa lang ang isinabmit ng movie company ni Mother Lily Monteverde for the December 25 playdate ng MMFF this year. One is Shake, Rattle & Roll 9, kung saan multi-cast, multi-director, at multi-story muli. The other one is Bahay Kubo starring Maricel, from the direction of Joel Lamangan.
From the script of RJ Nuevas and Suzette Doctolero, Maricel will play a mother to seven children, some of them teenagers na. Isa lang ang tunay na anak ni Maricel dito; the rest, mga ampon niya.
Kasama sa Bahay Kubo entry ang commitment letter ni Maricel. A commitment letter is usually attached sa isang entry to testify that a lead star has been committed to the said project. This way, naiiwasan ang possibility na magbida ang isang star sa more than one movie, na hindi pinapayagan ng MMFF screening committee.
The new rule states that a film outfit can send as many entries as it wishes, and directors and supporting stars may appear in as many films that invite them, but the lead stars can only do one movie each for the yearly film festival.
Hindi pa sigurado kung magpapadala rin ng entry ang Regal for the January 1st playdate. Sa July 18 pa ang deadline for the New Year opening.
This year, may choice na ang producers kung kailan nila gustong maipalabas ang pelikula nila sa taunang festival—sa Kapaskuhan o sa Bagong Taon.
