Gian Sotto, son of comedian and former Senator Tito Sotto, says he is not bothered and he doesn't feel out of place because he entered showbiz a little too late.
Iyon ang mga naiisip ni Mr. M [Johnny Manahan, head of Star Magic] para sa akin," explained Gian, 28 years old, during a press junket yesterday, June 19, at 9501 restaurant in ABS-CBN compound.
Gian was first known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band called Nerveline. Their band has produced one album under Ivory Records and, just like his dad and uncle Vic Sotto, he composed some songs that were included in the album.
After music, Gian is now set to try the other talent that is also associated with their clan—their talent in acting. Gian narrated that when he was young, he was hesitant to enter showbiz because he didn't know how to dance.
How did his Dad feel when he heard about this news?
It's just that kaya ngayon lang ako nakapag-acting, kasi ngayon ko lang na-realize na hindi naman kailangan sumayaw para umarte, e," answered Gian.
THE BLIND ITEMS. Gian was not able to avoid the questions about the rumors concerning his younger sister, Ciara, and his mother, Helen Gamboa.
There have been tabloid reports and blind items that identified Ciara as the young actress-singer who went to the United States because she is pregnant. But as an older brother, Gian defended Ciara and said that the runmor is not true.
He explained, "Kasi ganito 'yon, sa Las Vegas dati pang may offer si Ciara na mag-show siya doon for a whole year, binibigyan siya ng contract.
"Kaya noong na-offer sa kanya this year, tinanggap na nila Mommy [Helen Gamboa]. Ang problema nga lang, kinailangan na nilang umalis before the election dahil iyong offer, nandoon sa contract na ganun."
How about his parents? Is it true that they have separated already?
"Dumating na 'yong Mom ko last Sunday [from the US].
He also dismissed the involvement of Zsa Zsa Padilla, who is being linked to the former senator.
"Hindi totoo 'yon," said Gian.
Right now, Gian is serious about acting. In fact, he enrolled himself in an acting workshop last summer with fellow Star Magic talent, Alfonso Martinez—son of Albert and Liezl Martinez.
Before the interview ended, Gian, who is already married, reiterated that he would not let the age issue affect his career. He said, "I'll just be myself kung ano ako talaga.
