Dingdong Dantes doesn't blame Judy Ann Santos for concert snub

"I'm sure it's not her fault and I'm not blaming anyone din naman. Nangyayari talaga minsan 'yung mga ganyan. But I would really love to be there or to take part of the celebration since I respect Judy Ann a lot," says Dingdong Dantes about his non-participation at Judy Ann Santos's anniversary concert.

Actor-director Dingdong Dantes once again admitted that he felt disappointed when people behind Judy Ann Santos's recent anniversary concert didn't seek him out. But he said that it's not as severe as reports make it out to be.

"Hindi pa kami nagkakausap [ni Judy Ann] about it," he told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last night, June 26, at Hard Rock Café in Makati, during Sony BMG's tie-up event with the Philippines' Dangerous Drugs Board and National Youth Commission to raise awareness against drugs and its effect on the youth.

"Well, inamin ko naman na nagtampo ako. But I do understand na baka nagkaroon lang ng problema or misunderstanding kaya hindi nila ko na-invite or nasabihan kahit lang for a video greeting," explained Dingdong.

Judy Ann had earlier expressed that she hopes Dingdong won't take the incident against her. Juday reasoned out that she's not fully aware of all the plans since the people behind the event were the ones taking care of production details.

"I'm sure it's not her fault and I'm not blaming anyone din naman. Nangyayari talaga minsan 'yung mga ganyan. But I would really love to be there or to take part of the celebration since I respect Judy Ann a lot," enthused Dingdong.

But there are some who say that the handsome young actor is not particularly close to Judy Ann, that their relationship was strictly professional and, therefore, he has no right to feel bad for being excluded. Dingdong and Judy Ann worked together in two movies, Magkapatid and Akala Mo.

"Actually, pagkatapos nga ng projects namin, mas naging close kami," clarified Dingdong. "We text and communicate as good friends."

Shifting the topic, we asked Dingdong about his preparations for GMA-7's anticipated remake of Marimar, in which he is slated to portray Marian Rivera's love interest, Sergio.

"I'm preparing for it by studying my character, though we made it a point not to fully replicate the original characters since we want to put our own style for the benefit of the local viewers," he said.

He is also watching the original version religiously to familiarize himself with the entire story and the other characters.

PEP playfully quizzed Dingdong if he'll copy Sergio's trademark prominent chest hair.

"Naghahanap nga ako ng makapal na buhok para ilagay sa dibdib ko!" he bantered with his boyish grin.

"Seriously, hindi naman kailangang gayahin. Thank God!" he chuckled.
