GMA-7's production manager hurt by Angel Locsin's decision to leave

"Hindi lang Asian Treasures ang ginagawa niya. Alam ni Becky ‘yon and alam ni Angel ‘yon," argues GMA-7 production manager Redgie Acuña-Magno (right) in response to the claims of Angel Locsin's (left) camp that the young actress got burned out while doing the recently concluded show.

GMA-7 Production Manager Redgie Acuña-Magno was reduced to tears while stating her stand on Angel Locsin's controversial transfer to rival network, ABS-CBN.

Accommodating Showbiz Central's request for a formal interview, Redgie couldn't help but feel emotional in lamenting all her sentiments to her former anak-anakan. Unknown to many, Redgie handled all of Angel's programs with the network during her stay, starting with Mulawin to Darna to Majika, and her last, Asian Treasures.

HANDS FULL. As she previously mentioned, Redgie couldn't grasp the protest given by manager Becky Aguila on Angel's alleged tight schedule, depriving the young actress of substantial rest and subsequently affecting both her personal and family life.

Sa mga days na supposedly rest days niya, binibigyan pa niya si Angel ng iba pang projects, so talagang mapapagod nga 'yung bata," said Redgie to host Pia Guanio in a taped interview shown yesterday, July 29.

The program manager didn't deny the taxing shooting demands of Asian Treasures but argued that it was only during the election period when they started shooting daily to catch up on those shooting days previously called off because of Angel's other commitments outside the show.

"Nung una, first taping days namin sa Asian Treasures, every other day ang taping namin. Nagkaroon na lang kami ng everyday taping during the election period and onwards kasi kailangan naming mag-everyday taping because she has other commitments—meron siyang out of the country, meron siyang mga kung anu-anong projects sa mga provinces, meron pa siyang political endorsement—so lahat ‘yun gusto naming i-accommodate.

Redgie stated that she herself became alarmed by Angel's apparent lack of rest which was starting to register both on camera and on screen.

"I even actually asked Becky to give her rest days kasi mukha na siyang pagod on TV.

NO SIGNS OF COMPLAINT. Looking back, Redgie said she was shocked with all of Angel's reported grievances recently as the actress never showed any signs of objection right from the start until the show's (Asian Treasures) end. Angel's relationship with her co-stars and the entire staff, according to Redgie, was also pleasant.

Nakakagulat lang, ngayon lumalabas lahat," she said.

Redgie admitted feeling hurt with the way Angel severed her ties with the Kapuso Network.

Masakit lang mga bintang nila," Redgie said while sobbing.

Aside from Redgie herself, the people most hurt by Angel's decision to jump ship were all the staff and crew of her shows.

Ilang beses siyang nagsinungaling? Ilang beses? Kaya masakit, 'yun lang ang masasabi ko."
