With a new TV show on hand, Senator Bong Revilla told the press that he misses having a leading lady by his side.
"Oo nga, e, mag-isa na lang ako. Sabi ko nga, 'Wala ba kong leading lady dito? Baka naman puwedeng may leading lady ako dito para hindi naman ako malungkot. Kahit ako na magbayad ng talent fee," Bong said during the presscon of his new GMA-7 show, Kap's Amazing Stories, held at Marina restaurant in Quezon City today, August 16.
"Joke lang... 'ayan na naman!" he quickly retracted with a loud laugh.
Kap's Amazing Stories replaces his longtime running sitcom, Hokus Pokus, where he was paired with comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto. The two were even romantically linked to each other for a time, although both parties vehemently denied the talks.
Bong may not have a leading lady for his new television show, but he has two—Jennylyn Mercado and Michelle Madrigal—in his upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Resiklo.
The press couldn't help but notice Bong's preference for younger leading ladies.
"Kasi pakiramdam ko, bumabata din ako!" he bantered.
BLESSED FAMILY LIFE. The actor-and-senator feels grateful for all the blessings that continue to come his family's way.
"Actually, napakabait talaga ng Panginoon sa amin. We're so blessed talaga. At least ‘yung mga gusot naayos na din," muses Bong, referring to the rift that the Revillas once had with Rosanna Roces—the mother of Jolo Revilla's ex-girlfriend, Grace Adriano. Jolo and Grace's relationship produced a son, Jose Gabriel "Gab" Adriano Bautista.
Despite his busy schedule, juggling politics and show business, Bong revealed that he still makes time to bond with Gab whenever they have the chance to borrow their beloved apo.
"Well, every time na pupunta sa bahay ‘yon, palagi kong nilalaro ‘yung batang ‘yon. Actually, at first, medyo aloof ‘yung bata kasi siyempre hindi sanay makakita ng lalaki sa bahay ‘yon," said Bong.
Between him and his wife Lani Mercado, Bong revealed that Gab is much closer to him.
"Kamukha ko daw siya, e," he boasted, grinning.
For now, one grandchild is enough. "Masyado pang bata," Bong said of his children, not just Jolo. "Alam na nila kung ano ‘yung mga mistakes nila sa buhay nila."
As for Jolo, Bong said that his son has shown some maturity since becoming a father.
"Siguro naman dapat lang," reacted Bong seriously. "Pangaral lang naman ako. Siyempre siya pa rin ang magde-decide kung ano pa rin ang gusto niyang tahakin sa buhay. Ganun naman ang magulang, e, ayoko namang lumabas na parang stage father."
