Only Joey De Leon, whose creative mind was able to come up with brilliant concepts for hit shows and songs, has the ability to turn a serious statement into a national punch line.
In a phone interview yesterday, September 9, at Showbiz Central, Joey revealed that ever since he made his statement, "Explain before you complain," on national television, he's been swamped with queries from businessmen, who are asking his permission to use his now famous "line" on t-shirts and other merchandise.
Joey, however, issued one request to the enterprising individuals who will use his "line"—give to charity.
"Sana lang yung porsiyento ng mapagbebentahan n'yo ng t-shirt na merong ‘Explain before you complain' at kung ano pang maisip n'yo tungkol sa nangyaring issue na ito, ay magbigay naman kayo sa charity o kahit saan para makatulong tayo," he said.
It will be recalled that Joey was provoked to make such statement last August 30 in his noontime variety show Eat Bulaga! by Wowowee host Willie Revillame. The latter didn't like Joey's teasing remarks and "cheating" innuendos that were directed at his show.
Though Willie apologized to Joey last week, the latter refused to accept the apology. He said he stated his specific terms and Willie did not adhere to any of these terms.
Kailangan ganun din, yung babae dito at dito umiiyak din habang nagso-sorry siya sa akin," said Joey last Saturday, September 8, during his Startalk interview.
