Aiko Melendez's lawyers describe her emotional state

"She was trembling. In fact, when she came to us for advise nanlalamig ang kamay niya. She was malamig na nanginginig," describes Atty. George Soriano about Aiko Melendez'condition when she consulted them about her problem with estranged husband Martin Jickain.

Aiko Melendez's lawyers, Atty. George Soriano and Atty. Rodel Dacsil discussed during Startalk the Temporary Protection Order (TPO) granted by Quezon City Regional Trial Branch 102 to the actress-politician last Tuesday, September 18.

The TPO was granted by Judge Maria Lourdes Giron in connection with Republic Act 9262, otherwise known as "Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004."

"The petition was filed last Friday [September 14]. Therefore ordered, one which is prohibiting Mr. Jickain from committing or threatening to commit acts of violence or harassing. It also orders the respondent to stay away from petitioner from a distance of 1000 meters or about 1 kilometer," Atty Soriano said.

The TPO will be served to Jickain after the funeral of his aunt, according to the lawyers.

A conference and hearing on the application for Permanent Protection Order(PPO) has been set on October 12, 2007.

Both legal counsels said that Aiko had already separated from her husband two weeks before she went to their office.

Asked about Aiko's condition, both lawyers affirmed that their client looked harassed.

"She was trembling. In fact, when she came to us for advise, nanlalamig ang kamay niya. She was malamig na nanginginig," Atty. Soriano narrated.

The couple already had their differences during the election period last summer.

"When the matter was discussed to us by our client, may mga differences na pala sila since that time," Atty. Dacsil said.

The report gathered by Startalk's segment mentioned that the lawyers are not yet sure about the acts of violence that Aiko suffered when she was with Martin.

Atty. Soriano was quick to say, "We cannot say for now the specific acts allegedly committed by Mr. Jickain. It is the wish of our client to not divulge it yet."

They also did not discuss the merits of the case. At this point, both lawyers are not sure if the couple will get back together or separate in the end.
