Filipino-Irish Jon Avila is proud of his Pinoy roots

The Star Circle 15 talent is gearing up to become an actor. He is set to appear in the Aga Muhlach-Anne Curtis movie, Waiting for your Love, and indie film Nars with Jennylyn Mercado.

Among the September birthday celebrants of Star Magic, naging kapansin-pansin si Jon Avila or Jonathan dela Cruz Mullally inreal life.

Produkto si Jon ng isang magandang marriagebetween his Pinay mom Teresita de la Cruz, a nurse from San Ildefonso,Bulacan, and his Irish father Patrick Mullally, also a nurse inEngland.

The newbie takes pride in saying that he is more Pinoythan Irish."Ganyanpo siguro ang epekto ng sobrang attachment ko sa nanay ko," paliwanagni Jon na hindi rin nahiyang amining mama's boy siya.

"Well, dalawa lang po kaming magkapatid ng ate ko, who is also a nurse inEngland. Although we grew up being so close with each other, ako poyata talaga ang nakamana nung mga Pinoy traits ng nanay ko—fromlearning to love the language, to food, to customs, to values, and even topreferences on little things.

"I was then about200 pounds and sobrang chubby talaga for my 6' 2" height and frame whensomebody approached me and asked me kung gusto kong subukan angmodeling. I was advised then to lose a little bit, which I did naman in three months [from 200 to 175 lbs].

"Forno reason at all, when I was asked at that instant, parang may kunganong childhood dream na nabigyan ng katuparan. I was supported by mymother, and my father and sister understood naman, and now they arehappy for me. They all work in a hospital in England."

Sololiving ngayon ang binata sa isang condo unit na nabili ng ina para sakanya at proud niyang naikuwentong siya lahat ang gumagawa ngmga gawain, including the cleaning and the cooking.Healso rides the MRT when going to his tapings and shootings dahilsobra raw siyang nagtitipid.

"But I goout to date. I got lots of nice female friends and, for me, that'shealthy at this time.
