Governor Vilma Santos downplays any political ambition for 2010

"To all the sectors, including the Church. Join me. Pati yung Batangueño sama-sama tayo. Pero I cannot do it alone. Sama-sama tayo," Batangas Governor Vilma Santos appeals to all in her fight against gambling in the province.

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Batangas Governor and Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos, last Friday, September 28. Vilma was attending the joint celebration of Facial Care Center and Raymund Isaac's anniversary party held at the Ayala Museum, Makati City.

Showbiz reporters hounded her with questions about running for higher office in 2010. Other politicians from showbiz already have been making their aspirations known in recent gatherings.

"Alam niyo iyon, wala akong political ambitions. Muntik pa nga akong hindi maging gobernador. So, wala. Nandito man ako, it was meant to be. Pero yung political ambition, no way. Hindi madali, believe me.

"No, no, no... wala naman kumakausap. Wala. Yun muna," Vilma said on persistent rumors that the certain political groups could be talking to her.

She admits that it has been a tough time for her, handling problems of the province.

"Yung mga sugal sa Batangas. I always tell them that I cannot do miracles. I am not encouraging it or any form of gambling. Pero kailangan ko ang tulong nilang lahat, most especially my PNP [Philippine National Police]. Kasi, kahit na ano kong gusto gawin, kapag hindi ako tinulungan nga mga taong ito, don't expect me to do miracles."

Her husband has also been a big help in running the affairs of the provincial capitol, as he did when she was mayor of Lipa City, Batangas.

Despite her busy schedule, Gov. Vilma was still able to attend the party for her favorite photographer, Raymond Isaac.

And once hinawakan ako ni Raymond, I trust him, I trust him."

Ngayon daw," she jested.

To which Raymond Isaac exclaimed, "Bagay. President Darna. Isalba ang Pilipinas!"
